Vari Essential Electric Standing Desk – 48x24 – Hazel Wood

This is my first dabble into standing desks. My biggest fear was the bad tolerances you often find on cheap furniture, making assembly a big pain. Well if you're at all worried about the assembly of this product; don't worry, it's SUPER EASY. The guide was prefect, and all holes/bolts lined up. They also labeled each bag of hardware with the bolt type, making it easy to ensure the proper hardware is selected. Lastly the hex wrenches included were not the typical cheapies found in most knock down furniture, but rather nicer ones that I will actually keep in my tool kit. The process took me 30 minutes and I was going slow and careful The desk itself is nice, just be sure that you want smaller desk. In my mind small desk=less clutter, and it works fine for the 27 inch monitor with wireless kb/mouse. We keep the tower down low on the floor and had to make sure there was adequate length in the monitor cable and monitor power supply. The motor is quick and quiet and seems like a quality unit. I'll check back in a year to report on durability.

Great alternative to the heavy and expensive Vari desk original. It is a bit smaller, and does have the split top - but great for my smaller space - and I wanted a full white desk. This is perfect! Not difficult to assemble - and very sturdy.

This is my 4th Vari electric desk. I use them in my workshop for my knitting machines, so I can sit or stand while working. Twice I tried to buy a cheaper brand on Amazon, and both times regretted it. One was so bad that I went through the trouble of packing it and sending it back, the other one I use sparingly with my lightest machine. After that, I'm sticking with Vari. They might be a bit more expensive, but the quality is outstanding. You can see it right as you open the package, which is very thoughtfully designed. And the assembly is so easy, with excellent clear directions. It's worth the extra $$ if only to save you the frustration while assembling!

I got this on significant sale, and at that price it was mostly worth it. I opted for this brand because I wanted a reputable company with a presence in the US in case I needed replacement parts down the road. The frame is well built and uses a much thicker gauge of metal than many of the other options on Amazon (look closely at pictures...the difference is significant). The quality of the welds is decent, but some places are spot welded, and I would have liked to have seen a little longer of a bead. Fit and finish of the frame is good, and the powder coating is nice. On the more critical side, the top is pretty poor. It looks very fake to me, and the split design is not great. It's totally functional, and I'm sure many folks will be fine with it. As a former woodworker, I'll totally admit to being a solid wood snob, but even relative to other laminate products I found it too be pretty underwhelming. I bought a solid wood top to replace it, and am much happier with that. The electronics and lift mechanism on this are also pretty basic (but totally functional). The table wobbles a little as it's going up and down, but thats likely just a quirk of the single motor design. In summary, I'm overall happy with the desk after replacing the top, especially since I got it on sale. There may be better options, but I was getting frustrated with all the off brand options. As long as you keep your expectations in check, this could be a great desk for you.

I used to have a sit/stand desk in the office but after working at home with a make-shift desk, I bit the bullet and purchased this one. Since I have a small space and I needed to be able to assemble/lift/move the desk myself, I went for this split top model. As it's a split top, there definitely is a seam on the desk top. After assembly, you could slip a piece of paper in the seam, but it wasn't a gap, at least on my desk. If you want a smooth drawing table, this isn't the desk for you. I have a monitor, laptop, keyboard, mouse and notepad on mine. It was surprisingly easy to assemble -- all pieces/screws/etc fit well. The directions were good. I did need to sit on the floor to assemble, so if you can't do that, it might be tricky. It shipped in one big box -- mine had plastic strapping around the box which helped me lift and drag it into the house. If you have to bring it upstairs, etc, you might need a helper. The only downside for me, so far, is that I didn't double check the lowest height and I'm rather on the short side. But I recently got an additional seat cushion for my office chair and it works out pretty close. So definitely double check the lowest dimension (or highest if you're on the tall side). Only been using it a couple of weeks, but motor is working fine so far.

I kept the desk raised most of the time. Motor died after very few uses. Don't waste money on this trash.

My wife works from home and wanted an adjustable desk. I remember Vari being one of the pioneers in the adjustable desks and the reviews sounded promising. The desk was packaged exceptionally well. It was extremely simple to assemble and the parts are simple and very sturdy! The desk looks great, is functional and is just designed really well. I highly recommend.
