A Photo Journey to Corsair Combat in the Pacific
It was a massive assemblage of photos of the Skull and Cross Bones Squadron. Having said that I rather think this would have limited appeal except to persons like myself who are interesting in every detail they can glean about carrier war in the Pacific. I thought the photos could have been printed better. With the advent of excellent photo editors and printing techniques a wider contrast range with more visible details might have been included. Am I happy to have this book? Absolutely.

Detailed Action
This is a written account of the day to day action VF-17 experienced. It gives the reader an insight into the experiences of these legendary pilots. Many pilots were interviewed and their quotes are all here. While this is not a story of VF-17 it accurately tells theirs. The photographs complete the story and draw the reader into the heart of this squadron. These are true human beings not just names on a roster. Through this book the reader can begin to feel how these heroes felt.

Beautiful Book
I bought this for my husband, and he loves it. It's full of beautiful pictures and stories from the people who lived the life of flying F4U Corsairs. Very happy with purchase, especially so because my husband loved the gift.

History Comes Alive for Corsair Aviation Buffs
The author took a lot of time and care to find and interview the men who were in VF-17. Their stories and the historical surroundings make this one of the best aviation books of the WWII history period.

Great book,
Just adding my 2 cents to "Country's" comments. My Father and Country were wing-mates with VF17 and I have had the privilege to sit down and talk with Country about his and my Fathers war efforts. He is 100% right about Lee Cook's book and if you love Navy squadrons and information about the Corsair, there is no finer book. Lee's attention to detail and information is second to none. A must read for any Corsair fan.Jim Bitzegaio

THE SKULL & CROSSBONES SQUADRON VF-17 in World War II
This text is a fitting tribute and memorial to the original personnel of VF-17. It and the associated photographic illustrations, also give us later generations, some insight as to how the F4U Corsair was developed and improved as a warfighting tool in WWII.Well Done!
