Great for Enthusiasts, Not for Everyman
I have had a great time customizing this handheld with community made firmware to improve its performance and overall feel. However, out of the box it is not exactly something I'd give to a child or newcomer to retro games. Be prepared to make it your own.

Good system but poor battery life and buttons
Bought this for my son and used it about 6 months. But now the power button is jammed and the unit is now not playable. I wish there’s some kind of warranty on this thing. The battery is ok but does need constant charge.I installed another OS and it is much better than originally one. Downloading games to play on this is very easy for gb, gbc and gba. Can’t figure out ds though.I wish the seller would contact me to see if they can help.

Loved it till it broke
When I got the 351 I loved it. It had a lot of games as advertised, but about 1/4 to 1/2 was in Japanese. I ended up updating the os. The systems worked up till dreamcast where it had sound problems and game would hickup with the update. The system itself was sturdy and well made. The buttons felt great although the shoulder button being side by side made it hard to get it to work on the fly. I guess I could have learned to work with it but I then had my biggest problem. THE ON/OFF BUTTON BROKE ONLY 2 WEEKS INTO HAVING IT. Its not like I was doing anything weird with it. I didn't drop it or press it to hard. Not sure why it broke but it did. If it hadn't of broke I would have gave it a 5/5 but I can't give it that now that I returned it so 2/5.

Nostalgia heaven.
Right away I was impressed with the build quality of this handheld. I think it looks sleek and premium. It’s mostly metal and it has some weight to it. It just feels good in my hands. The action buttons have decent travel and spring. The D-Pad feels slightly mushy but is still responsive. The analog sticks feel nice and go back to neutral fast. They are recessed slightly, so I still would not be comfortable placing the device in my pocket without a protective case. The shoulder buttons are clicky and, since I have medium-sized hands, are comfortable to use. The rubber backing allows for a secure grip.I love that there is a volume rocker on the left. The power button is on the right. The micro-SD card which holds the OS and software and the reset button are on the bottom and I do not find them obstructive. The USB-C inputs (one for data and one for power/date) and audio jack are on top. I think this is the one design flaw of this unit. It is very awkward to charge the unit or have your headphones plugged in while playing. I wish they would’ve reversed the inputs. The 3.5 inch IPS screen, with 320*480 resolution, looks great even at this size. The preinstalled OS works smoothly and is easy to use. The handheld comes with a decent collection of about 2500 games over several platforms. This is great, although most are games I would not really play ever -especially when they are in full Chinese or Japanese. Still, it has some titles that I am excited about and worth the price in my opinion. For anyone that is comfortable with ROMs and emulation, you can always add/replace/remove titles and even change the OS (which I did).As far as performance, the RK3326 Quad Core 1.5 GHz CPU, Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, and 1GB of DDR3L RAM do a decent job and will play almost every single title flawlessly up to PS1. It struggled a bit with some Dreamcast and N64 titles with hiccups and low framerates. This is to be expected as more powerful devices cost more than twice. Besides, I think more graphic-intense games need a bigger screen (even PS1 titles). The speakers aren’t that great but are usable. This is no big deal to me as I prefer headphones when playing any handheld anyway.I do question why Anbernic pulled the awesome mini-HDMI output from last generation’s RG350M. This is the reason why I am still holding on to it -especially when playing PS1 and older consoles. The battery life is decent. In my testing, I was able to play for a little less than 7 hours. What’s impressive is the standby time. I left it in sleep mode, and it took about 3 days for it to deplete. In the end, I think this is one of the best retro-handhelds I’ve tried. It’s certainly an upgrade to the older 350M when it comes to performance, although I am sad about the HDMI support. However, having so many titles at my disposal, with room to add more, it will be a long time before this is put away.
