VERY GOOD! --> see updated results / comparisons!
UPDATED: (see below for original review) I used this lube for over a year now and compared with two other lubes, and the new verdict is...not better than the two others. Well, as I wrote below, I only put a single drop per link, ride about 100 miles and reapply, cleaning it well about every 200 miles. But I was surprised even using sparingly, a 16-ounce bottle still only lasted 8 applications, so a good 800 miles (no more)...I can't imagine using as the company says (and shows on their website) really pouring it on...this would get only 3 - 4 applications for 400 miles. The worst part about this lube is: 1) it has a high stinky smell. 2) well it is paraffin based so as I apply one drop at a time, the bottle needs to be shaken after every several drops which is a real pain after a while. 3) The really worst part about this lube is since it just 100% paraffin based, when there is any rain or water during the ride, unless immediately cleaned and dried after the ride and reapplied, the chain will rust as paraffin offers no protection against water. For these above 3 reasons I tried Lilly Lube and was totally surprised how much better it was. >The advantages: 1) not as stinky, and I apply outside anyway. 2) no need to constantly stop and shake while applying. 3) it totally is not compromised by wet weather as it is oil based thus repelling water and protecting the chain 100%. 4) the 16 oz. bottle lasted 800 miles (twice as much as the Rock & Roll applying as I wrote in my review.) Although the Rock & Roll did work as advertised, I simply found the Lilly Lube has the advantages as mentioned. (I did not do a cost comparison, just writing about my experiences, but I believe they are about the same per ounce (not fully sure). Lastly, I did use Dumononde Tech Classic Original and found it gave the same results as the Lilly Lube...but with the Dumononde make sure to buy from a reputable supplier as I believe I received a bottle diluted or somehow comprised one time! Also, with Dumononde Tech Classic Original, one thing the directions state is: ''USE SPARINGLY'' (the opposite as the direction as Rock & Roll) and they MEAN IT. One time I applied like 2- 3 drops per link, and it gunked up my chain so bad, it skipped and slipped to the point I eventually just replaced the chain and applied the one drop method, and it worked much better as they recommend. One thing I recommend with all these lubes it to always reapply every 50-70 or so miles one drop per link, then give the chain a good 5-10-minute cleaning every 100 - 200 miles. Doing this is extremely efficient and all these tests you read about waxing is ''better'' is ONLY because they are testing WITHOUT as I wrote (not applying a drop per link after about each 100 miles (it only takes about 2- 3 minutes) and a cleaning after each 100-200 miles or so. Doing this keeps the chain clean, and working perfectly and is kind of fun to maintain the bike :-) BTW, I used these three lubes over three European tours of about 800 miles each through rain, etc. during similar seasons with similar very heavy loads, cleaning and maintenance methods. ORIGINAL POST: (above is the updated review) I started with a super clean chain. Applied just a drop on each link over two complete revolutions of the chain (not streaming it like they recommend). I then spun the chain backwards a few minutes while wiping off as much as possible. Let it sit overnight. I rode about 100 miles, then simply repeated without cleaning. The chain stayed extremely clean and quiet. After the second 100 miles I repeated again (without cleaning) and again extremely quiet and clean. After about 50 miles later (a total of about 250 miles from the original cleaning/start), I gave it a super good clean and captured the water in bucket. It only needed about one quart of soapy water sprayed onto the chain with simple toothbrush and I was amazed the amount of black coming off was really about 1/3 of what am used to after such riding. Also, it cleaned up really like three times easier! Lastly over the entire approximately 250 miles, the chain stayed nearly completely free of the black mess when touching the chain! That alone is very helpful. The riding was done over mostly streets and cold, often damp, but not quite freezing temperatures. Oh, also, all this used 2.5 ounces...so each ounce gets about 100 miles of riding doing as I have done, so this 16 ounce bottle will provide about 1,600 miles! It also saves a lot of cleaning fluid as I did not need degreasers...just a very good soap cleaner was used. Overall, the best I've used and won't look elsewhere.

Also an excellent pocket knife lube
This is the same Rock N Roll lube the Buck knife factory store uses. It cleans, lubes and seals a knife hinge very well. If you think about it a hinge joint is essentially a half-link chain. It is easy to apply and works into the joint well. Once applied it lasts a very long time keeping out water, mud, crud and blood. I've stopped by the Buck factory store in Post Falls ID and this is what they recommend and use on the hinge of the pocket knives. It works great on regular lock-backs and auto's. This wax lube makes knives work fast and smooth and is better than any gun oil, knife lube, sewing machine oil or fishing reel oil, I have tried and I have tried many.

Fast and Silenturious. Starring Vin Diesel.
Bike lube. How exciting can it be? How about if Vin Diesel challenged you to a race in his American Iron, and you blew his doors off in the 1/4 mile? Then you kept going and he didn't catch you. Ever. Vin's car caught fire, jumped over a VW Bus, and rolled three times, while you drank a beer at the cafe just past the finish line. Yes, this chain-lube is that good! It will even open your beer for you. Rock-N-Roll lube cleans the chain. I decided to first go over the cassette and chain with some generic citrus degreaser anyway, to start fresh. I had been using Krytech Wax. No comparison! After a good soaking with R-N-R, a surprising amount of dirt came to the surface of the chain. Wiped it down repeatedly and re-applied. Took the bike on a test ride, and it was silent. The only sound I could hear was the chuffing of my mountain-bike shorts. (and the frustrated cursing of Vin Diesel yelling for me to wait up.) The drawback to the packaging is that it comes with an empty 4-oz bottle that you are supposed to fill up. Getting the lube from the big to the small bottle isn't as easy as it could be, as there is no nozzle on the big bottle. Just a little hole, which means you have to squirt the lube into the small bottle. 2 nozzle caps are included for the little bottle--a nice inclusion. I had no idea that a chain lube could make such a difference. Can't wait to go put on 25 miles tomorrow and see how it holds up. <edit> Rode up a canyon today. Caught some heavy rain and red mud on the way down. (Dry when I started riding . . .) About 15 miles today. Chain was still silent after picking up some serious crap coming home. I'm very impressed with this lube.

Fire and forget for low maintenance. Cold weather?
I like this product because it makes maintenance easy. It does a nice job of cleaning and lubricating all in one shot. This is because it has a combination of solvents, oils, and other stuff. In that sense, it's similar to a product like WD-40, but the difference is that you also get very nice and long-lasting lubrication. It is fairly runny for a wet lube, which actually makes it easy to apply. You may end up using more, but the 16 oz. package will last you a long time anyway. The lube comes with directions which are rather unprofessionally printed (lol). Unlike the instructions say, I don't drip it over the chain at the cassette/freewheel. I don't see any reason to risk getting lube anywhere besides the chain bearings, because I'm afraid it will attract grime. Instead, I shift into the outermost chainring/rear gear combination and drip it from the top along the bottommost run of the chain while freewheeling backwards. I then spin it through a rag to clean the excess off, which also brings a ton of black gunk out of the chain. Cycle through all the gears and chainrings in hopes of naturally spreading just a dab over the teeth of the gears, then the chain through the rag a couple more times for more cleaning and getting all the excess off. One alarming thing I've heard about from multiple people is that Rock 'N' Roll tends to congeal in cold weather and will not function correctly. I've never tried it in the winter before, but the idea of that happening makes me nervous, and I don't really want to find out the hard way that my lube has partially solidified. So I'll probably use a different lube over the winter and use this as my easy-cleaning maintenance for the rest of the year.

Great lube for MTB / Gravel
Good product. The process of keeping the chain cleaned is easier as long as you keep up with the process. For me the best way to use it is to wipe the chain and applying it after a ride following the instructions and then the next day wipe the excess again. The last step is critical for keeping the chain in a good shape. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the amount of product you have to use in order to get the results you are expecting. In my road bike I will keep waxing but MTB / Gravel nothing beats this product.

The best chain lube on earth, period!
I first discovered Rock N Roll Gold about 15 years ago while searching for a good lube for my MTB chain. I must have tried 5 or 6 "top" brands in the market place that were highly rated by everyone. However, I never liked any of them as they are like traditional oily lubes. I saw someone mentioned R&R on a bike forum one day and immediately called to order one. I spoke to the owner himself who spent about 20 minutes talking to me about lubes and how he came about this lube. To make a long story short I bought a small bottle of it just to try it out and from the moment I first tried it, I was hooked. This lube is unlike any of the others. First of all, you clean and lube all at once. Second, you're suppose to rub it off after you apply it. This seems counter intuitive as most people would believe that like traditional lubes, it needs to remain on the chain. But the way Gold works is by forming a thin layer of "dry" lube that's great at keeping dirt from sticking on the chain. That's one reason the instructions says to leave it to cure overnight for best results. When the instructions are followed, this is the driest, quietest, and cleanest lube that you will ever use. I'm shocked that not more people are using it. In fact, I'm shocked that people are still using other chain lubes, period. It's that good. You can try buying the little bottle to try before committing to this large refill version. But you should just go ahead and buy this as you'll eventually buy it anyway so why waste time? I like RnR so much that I now use their other lubes as well.

Let it roll
Basically the best pre made clean lube that's ok against rain Squirt lube: Tricky. cleaner, but absolutely no rain protection, expensive AND harder to apply (must degrease and then wait overnight before riding) Wet lubes: May possibly be more efficient wattage wide and protect against rain more, however get very messy Molten speed wax: The ABSOLUTE most cleanest AND longest lasting "lube" (wax) + rain protection. 200-500 miles supposedly. However, it's not gonna be as efficient as fluid lubes. While wet lubes such as tri flow may be the fastest and protect against rain the best, they're messy, gunk up, costly, require cleaning. Squirt is a wax based lube which is ultra clean, however requires a clean drivetrain and offers absolutely no rain protection while being costly. Molten speed wax is maximum clean and offers rain protection, but even harder to apply. Requires the wax, slow cooker/crock pot, in oven thermometer, and perhaps a master link tool. Rock n roll gold offers the one and only in between while being cheap. Efficient, rain protective, clean, easy to apply. Not as long lasting, but it doesn't matter because it's so easy to apply. Just rock n roll

Great lube. Only use it on your bike.
Excellent choice for those who refuse to get on the chain waxing bandwagon. RNR should be applied on every ride and keep wiping until the cloth is clean.

Not just another set of false promises
I think I've tried most lube types (dry , wax, oil based etc) but this stuff is the best . It does clean the chain while lubricating - it's not just a BS claim- and what I like about it is that it's super thin and dry - yet your chain doesn't make noises like most dry or wax based lubes My favourite now!
