Fox 40 Titan Premium Dual Tone Titanium Whistle - Titanium

I bought this mostly because of the slim form factor. I coach wrestling and if I had to take my whistle off every time I got on the mat to roll around it would be a pain. I just drop this under my shirt and it stays out of the way.

First of all - it IS a really nice high quality whistle.Despite claiming lower dB this ring your ears in contrast to most Chinese titanium whistles claiming much higher dB ratings.Yes it has a plastic insert. I knew that before ordering - but so does many (although not all) titanium competitors. Not really an everyday issue but of course if you should be able to depend on it even though is has been roasted near a fire etc. that might be an issue.Also in contrast to many cheaper competitors the two chambers are tuned slightly differently so even without a pea you almost get that kind of ringing rolling sound instead of just a single flat tone.One disappoint however - Made in China. I didn't knew that and honestly at that price point I expected it to be made in Canada or US. But even so it is clearly supperior to other Chinese titanium whistles.And yes it clearly is titanium despite what other reviers says. You know that when you've had many titanium objects in your hands. (He/she might have been unlucky and got machining oil or cleaning agents left over from manufacture - all it needed - a clean)

For a $50 titanium whistle, I expected it to be completely metal, for the intentional purpose of making it fairly indestructible. However, only the outside is metal. There is a plastic inner piece that forms the entry to the two sound chambers, and it's only held in by little plastic bumps that fit into small holes in the metal. I would rather have paid even more for a version with a metal piece pressed in, instead of the plastic piece. (To be clear, the plastic piece has not yet come out, but I don't like such risks on what is potentially a piece of life-saving equipment. )

It has an awful metal taste unlike other Titanium products I own. Threw away an expensive whistle.

It’s high quality product. Like other mention before that the interior isn’t titanium.But I knew that beforehand so there is no complaints.
