Good sturdy rack. Installation was a little tricky, but do-able.
I have two of these now, and the installation is easier the second time. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with printed instructions and you have to go online. I believe there was a video online that I watched when I installed the first one, but I actually didn't need to look at the instructions when I installed the second one about six months later. (But - DON'T FORGET to extend the top of the rack out fully toward the back, BEFORE you tighten down the screws and adjust the legs. I forgot the first step the first time I installed this rack, so I had take it off and do it all over again. If you you don't leave enough clearance between the rack and the seat before you attach a basket, then the top edge of the basket will cut into your butt.) Otherwise, this is a good sturdy rack. I use it for hauling groceries, and I haven't had any problems. I attached a wire basket permanently to the top of the rack using lots of heavy-duty zip ties, then I have two pannier baskets that I hook onto the left and right edges of the basket when I go shopping. You might be frustrated on the installation because getting the legs adjusted is kind of fiddly, so leave lots of time. I kept dropping the screws and having to pick them up again. This rack does come with its own little tools for installation. I'm using this with two different models of bike. On one of the bikes, I thought the rack was going to interfere with the derailleur or brake cable, because the metal was almost touching the cable when I tightened down the screws at the bottom, but there is just enough clearance for the cables to still work.

Poor fit and design for the support stays on a regular road bike.
It seems very nicely constructed, however I am giving only 3 stars because of TWO issues with the support stays. 1) The telescoping extension is not long enough to reach from the rack down to the eyelets near my axle. I was hoping to attach it to this and avoid the clamps. The main rod that the extension pulls out of is about 10" long, but the extensions themselves are only extend about 3.5", leaving me about 1.5" short of reaching the eyelets. SUPER LAME. and 2) The clamps are HUGE. I have a regular 80s road bike and the clamps are much too big for the seat stays (they could clamp down to something as big as 1" but not smaller than probably 5/8" which is crazy because I think most bikes would have smaller stays than this, not larger.). They did include pieces of rubber, but having to use THREE pieces of rubber per side just to create enough thickness to clamp down is completely ridiculous. I will probably end up creating my own custom stays at my community metal shop instead of going through the hassle to return this.

Great bike rack but TERRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS...
I purchased this BoG Heavy Duty Rear Bike Rack and the Sunlight Rack Top Basket to install on my wife's hybrid bike. To describe this rack as "heavy duty" doesn't do it justice. It's as sturdy as a brick (you know what) house. I honestly feel I could ride on it without doing damage. That's the good news. The bad news, and the reason it gets only 4-STARS is...it comes with virtually NO written installation instructions. Instead you'll be referred to a BoG installation video that's LOW RESOLUTION and filmed much too fast to be of any use. In short, it looks like something from the 1950's. If BoG Products is reading this review my advice is to film a HI-RESOLUTION VIDEO at a MUCH SLOWER PACE that can be followed by your customers. I consider myself a very capable mechanic and I have a fully equipped shop with SAE and metric tools. I viewed their video to get the jest of the installation...and then just fumbled my way through. At a minimum BoG should provide the two Allen wrenches and two nut wrenches that are required for installation. This would cost them little but be of huge assistance. In summary, great product...but crappy, near nothing instructions.

Sturdy and Well-Worth the Installation Time
This is a very sturdy rack. It baaarely worked for me on my 14.5" bike frame (seat in a low position--I'm 5'2"), but I was able to use the supports that attach to the seat stays to make sure the bolts on the underside of the rack clear the rear tire.Other reviewers have complained about the confusing installation; I disagree. I wouldn't say the installation was complicated so much as it was involved. A spare set of hands would have helped to hold parts in place while I tightened the nuts and bolts, a two-handed job in itself. As it was, I completed the task myself in just about an hour. I feel that the effort was well worth it.As for the instructions, yes, they are in the form of an online video without audio, but for me they were more than sufficient to get the idea of how to put the rack together. I recommend anyone who purchases the BoG rack to have a computer or other device handy while setting it up, watching through the video a couple of times, and reviewing the video while working, pausing the video between steps. You will need your own Allen wrenches and a vice grip, pliers, or adjustable wrench to complete the job.

Can't figure out how to install - returning product
Returning because the vid instructions were too poor for me to follow and install. The parts didn't function the way the vid instruction portrayed. With all my strength, could not loosen two bolts as shown in order to extend the downsides. Looks like it could be a good product but can't install it so it's worthless to me. Can't figure out why the included pieces don't match up to the vid so I can figure it out. Very frustrating!! Paper instructions would have been nice. Doesn't seem like all the parts were included, but can't tell that either since there were no instructions & parts list. Guess I'll go to a bike shop, pay extra, but at least they can install it since what I thought would be a fairly easy install didn't turn out that way. I admit it's my figure bike rack install, so why not make instructions easy for newbies to follow. Horrible video in my opinion.

Hard to install
Right out of the box, the bolt that holds the clamp together for the main bar fell apart. Needed to buy loctite to keep it together. The installation video has no sound and a magician in white gloves that installs the rack in 2 minutes and 17 seconds. You’re going to have to pause the video and watch closely to see what actually happens.
