Awesome, it works, and gives you a lot of options
This filter is awesome, used it on a three day backpacking trip recently. No issues whatsoever. For everyoneโs information however, the reservoir bag does not seal fully when filled. The top, although it folds nicely into a handle for carrying - which is amazing and super convenient - it does not prevent water from coming out the top if you, letโs say, put the bag down on the ground to get the straps adjusted or something. So the reservoir is not for carrying water for long distances, unless youโre prepared to always keep it upright and never put it down until you can hang it. Still super doable if youโre going short distances, it doesnโt spill when youโre holding it by the handle, just if you put it down on the ground while filled and it falls over. Other than that, this kit is awesome. Gives you the option of reversing the steps, instead of filtering the water into the small plastic water bottle pouch, you fill the plastic bag with the unfiltered water, screw the filter straw onto the pouch, and drink it directly out of the filter (basically a life straw). I think the bag might be half a liter that it comes with, so if you want a bigger pouch then youโll have to order one. This is the way Iโve seen most through hikers using it, usually with the sawyer filter setup. But this filter gives you both options, filter the clean water from the reservoir into the plastic flexi pouch or any other bottles you want, or collect the unfiltered water into the flexi pouch, attach the filter directly to the pouch, and drink through the filter. Super lightweight, condenses into a really small volume, durable (I carried water in the reservoir for more than 5 miles, by hand, leaning it against a tree when I had to put it down, and the material held up). We used it for three days and that was more than two weeks ago, long enough for any water born sicknesses to have shown if it didnโt work. Great purchase.

Travel WIN!!!!
Came home from Uzbekistan with the worst case of what my grandma used to call the โgogo-amagoโ ever. Figured it either came from carelessly rinsing iur toothbrush in tap water, or eating a fresh fruit washed in tap water. Made an advance plan for our next trip to a third world country. No salads. No fruit unless we washed it ourselves. No smoothies unless they used bottled water. Donโt use room water provided unless we saw them filter it ourselves. Have a plan in place to provide so we wonโt dehydrate and for tooth brush. This little gizmo is AMAZING. It is lightweight, super easy to pack, easy to use once you get the hang of it, cheap to use, and saves tons of plastic. My only fear is, the straw part is very sturdy, and so far the bag part is, too, but it seems much more likely to wear out, crack, or get punctured (even though itโs a thick plastic) than the straw. I wish theyโd include and extra bag or two, as well as instructions to clean and store straw and bag. Well worth what seems to be an initial โinvestmentโ. Other travelers were jealous, and asked for details. Will be packing it for our next trip, to rural Morocco. Wouldnโt dream of traveling without it now. Has earned a spot in our minimal packing. Os: bought extra straws, but it seems like these things last forever. Hope weโll get to travel enough to use the extras!

Excellent customer service!
I love this product because it has a 1.5 gallon bag that is easy to fill in one second from a lake, pond, river, spring. It's a few ounces heavier than some of the other ultrafiltration options, but it is sooo worth it. After all, at camp you are going to need more than 32 oz of filtered water per day! 1.5 gallons is much more reasonable, and you only have to fetch water once per day. You just scoop up 1.5 gallons, roll the top shut, then sling it over your shoulder as you walk back to camp. Then the water gravity feeds from the bag, through the filter, into either the provided drinking sack, or any container you provide. It's easy to use and the provided directions are clear. About the customer service: The first one I got had a manufacturing defect. the little gray plastic elbow that connects the 1.5 gal bag to the hose was blocked, probably due to flashing left over from the manufacturing process. I emailed Waterdrop Filter and they sent me a new one immediately and without hassle. This was wonderful. (I failed to try out the product prior to backpacking, and so discovered the blockage on the trail. Note to self: always try out gear at home before setting out.) This is the kind of customer service that makes me a fan. Sure, there will be problems. But when a company stands behind its product, I stand up for the company. I contrast this customer service with another Amazon purchase from a well-known company that sold a bladder that had a manufacturing defect. I wrote them a detailed email. Got an auto-reply promising 3-5 day response. About 9 days later I got an email, telling me to fill out a warranty claim form, etc, etc. The reply didn't even address the diagnostic data I provided. My confidence in the product sank. What did I do? I returned the product to Amazon. Thank goodness for the 30-day Amazon return policy! But back to Waterdrop: They stood behind the product and supported it. In this day and age of increasingly high technology, product support becomes as important as the product itself.

Nice filtration system
I would give it 5 stars if the clip that stops the water flow actually worked. Everything about this sytem works perfectly, is lightweight and super easy to use. However, the clip that's supposed to stop the water flow does not work very well. I was not strong enough to clip it to the last notch and on the next-to-last notch it did not stop flowing. I had to put the hose up above the bag to get it to stop. The water bags and filtration straw to actually take on a hike were awesome and served us well on a 10 mile hike.

Amazing hanging H2O filter
I bought this three years ago and have used it on two backpacking tripsโmost recently two weeks ago. Donโt have a lot of experience with hanging water filters but am very impressed with this. Likes: The volume of water it handles, speed of filtration, and filtration quality. I really like how the tubing quick-connects to the reservoir which helps when filling the bladder or when not using. Extremely convenient to fill this by dipping in the lake, rolling the top closed and hanging it from a tree. Would be just as easy to fill this from a steam or falls. Bag and tubing clean and dry well. The materials are quite durable and I have not noticed any breakdown in the 3 years since purchasing. Dislikes: The plastic bag/bottle thing is weird but handy if you like that kind of thing. There is a plastic clamp that is supposed to stop the flow of filtered water. This serves to only slow it down rather than stop the flow, which is why we disconnect the tubing from the bladder when weโre done filtering but still have pre-filtered water in the bag. Would definitely buy again.

Great filter, light weight, and flavor/smell never an issue. Kept us safe and hydrated.
This water filter was awesome easy and light weight to carry on a week long trip with my daughter on Isle Royale. There are only a cpl places on the island to get drinking water off tap, you must have filters to get drinking water when back country. Packed easily into my bag, and allowed us to carry 2, 24 oz โSmart Waterโ sport bottles ea. Didnโt even touch our Sawyer Mini filters weโd taken as back up. Bag opening is easy to fill and close. Only issue, when bag is rolled closed it was not totally leak proof. Awareness to watch for drips into clean water. The bag/filter when hung, provided full 20 oz bottles in short time, maybe two mins to fill our bottles. Cleaned each day as directed. Remember the bag provided for cleaning! We had no issues at all. Took a little bit of space as itโs a rubber bag with long tube with a filter that is for sure longer than a Sawyer filter. Function and provided fast, clean water with ease. beat any space/weight concerns I had initially. Clean, clear water that had no taste issues at all. Pulled water from Lk. Superior and multiple inland lakes. Never an issue and flavor never a problem. Seemed clearer then the tap from Rock Harbor. Awesome product, for sure recommend. Filters are rather large, note the specs given from manufacture. Just be aware of space it does take up. We had no issues even with carrying Swayer minis as back ups. We never used them. 5 nights, 45 miles wandered. Thanks for keeping us with healthy, clean water.

An efficient, lightweight, and fast water filtration system.
This is a great water filtration system for camping. For those who are used to pumping to get clean water, this will be a pleasant revelation. For those who have used other gravity feed systems this will be an inexpensive and surprisingly quick alternative. I recently used this on a 4 day backpacking trip and love it. Here are a few highlights: 1. The feed back is lightweight, flexible, and fills to 1.5 gallons in one scoop of lake water. (BTW, don't fill it all the way to 1.5 gallons--it'll work better at about 1.25 gallons.) My friend is going to purchase the bag simply because it's so much easier and more efficient than the bag his (very expensive) system came with. 2. The filter has a bigger barrel than my Sawyer, and thus flows at about twice the speed. 3. The filter can be back flushed with the provided collapsible bottle--no need to bring along a syringe for back flushing. 4. The hanging system (also provided) is high quality and works great. Here's what I don't know: 1. My friend and I suffered no symptoms of waterborne illness, but the flow rate was so strong when we first started using the system that I was worried that it might not be filtering. What can I say? I guess I'm suspicious because it worked so well! The flow rate did decrease on the 4th day (after filtering about 11 gallons of water). But even the reduced rate was similar to my Sawyer filter. 2. The instructions didn't say anything about back flushing. I went ahead and back flushed when I got home, since every other filter I've used makes some provision for cleaning/flushing. I don't think it damaged it, but don't know for sure. I'd love someone from the company to respond to that question.

Filters the water but not the tasteโฆ
I just used this backpacking near Manistee River; we used it daily and we didnโt get sick. It was easy to use but I knocked it down 2 stars as it does not remove the taste of the tannins. I previously hiked this same location using a name brand pump style that was a pain to hand pump but produced good results and filtered the taste. If I didnโt have flavored electrolytes to add to the water, I donโt think I would be able to handle the taste longer than a day or so. If they make another brand with drip filter style that can filter out the tannin flavor, I would have gladly paid more. Avoid this model if the water source has tannins or other bad flavors in it.

Amazing for backcountry camping
Love this product. I recently bought it for my backcountry camping in Algonquin. Super easy to use, water comes out tasting just like water - no weird taste or chemical taste. I highly recommend. The only thing I wish it has was another bag to store the fresh clean water. Hard to only have the water come out as is instead of leave it to filter in a bag ready to drink. It comes with a little water bottle but it only attached to the filter. I ended up buying a water storage bag with a spout and it was perfect

Worked well we enjoyed having it packs down small much cheaper then some overpriced filters
Fair price the stuff at MEC and Sail is overpriced. filtered water great we both drank 6+ litres while on camping trip from lake we were on no one was sick or felt off at all make sure when u backflush it you blow out the water inside it I wouldn't put it away with filter media saturated in water for storage.
