A well-built office chair
This review is written from the perspective of a physically challenged person – who requires a well-built office chair. Actually, this chair is a reception chair; it is being used as an office chair.I find the chair is a little less weighty than I expected. It will not move, easily, from side to side – it might move front to back, & this may be a concern for some. If, for example a person has ataxia, there might be some safety concerns: placing their weight on the chair for support: to help them get, into the chair and seated. Consequently, my only concern with my new chair is movement when I get up from my Desk. This new reception chair is comfortable, and provides more back support than I expected. On the downside, the width of the chair is narrower than I expected. It is still usable. But, when buying online – be sure to have your measurements ready. For comparison sake – I had a La-Z-Boy reception chair. I don’t think the build quality was significantly better. Although, the La-Z-Boy was much heavier, I nicknamed it ‘the Tank.’ It was manufactured around 2000. I paid at least $100 for my old chair. The new chair is made in China and seems to be a good value. I shopped; other options were much more expensive.Last but not least, I utilized: ‘Silent Labors Services’ to assemble the chair – I am happy with their performance. I did not assemble the chair myself. However, it took two professionals – about 25 minutes to completely assemble the chair.

Some Assembly Required.....
This is not a bad chair for the price, but it can be tricky to get all the chair pieces lined up properly. If you are a bit clumsy and not very good with tools, you might want to preserve your sanity by asking a friend for help in putting this chair together, -otherwise you will end up with extra screws, that for the life of you, you can't manage to line up properly with the screw holes. The screws will eventually line up with the screw holes, but like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, the chair pieces have to be assembled exactly. My chair package arrived with one of the fragile and hollow hard plastic footpads broken in shipping. Arriving from China with a minimum of protective packing material, it is fortunate that more things did not get broken. Perhaps the manufacturer needs to use the type of molded styrofoam packing material used in shipping electronic equipment. Through Amazon, I sent the company an email requesting a replacement piece. The plastic footpads prevent the chair from rocking, and are necessary if the chair is to be used on hard floors. The footpads could use a little rounding on the front and back edges to make the chair easier to move on carpeting, and to prevent damage to the carpet in seating when sliding the chair back and forth under a desk. The metal crosspieces for the seat are adjustable to allow lining up the screwholes in the bottom of the seat. The seat bars are curved and should be rotated to a downward position. The fabric on the bottom of the seat has holes cut for the screws, but the fabric will unravel where it was cut. The fabric holes should have been sealed around the edges. You might want to add a little glue of some kind around the fabric holes, and give it a chance to dry before proceeding with the seat installation. Lining up the screws with the seat holes is a little tricky and requires patience. Put the screws most of the way in to allow final adjustments before tightening the screws. The screws for the seatback are easy to install, but just be sure to slide the seatback to its highest position before final tightening of the screws. Do not overtighten the seatback screws with the included allen wrench, as you may damage the (plywood?) internal frame of the seatback. Did you end up with a bunch of leftover washers? You forgot to put them on the screws. Go back and start over. Just kidding. Take each screw out, add a washer, smooth edge up, put the screw back in and retighten it. Then do the same thing with the next screw. This way the chair stays tightly assembled while you add the forgotten washers. I know all this because it happened to me. I assembled the chair without them. I was concerned with using the correct screw length on the seat (the seatback uses shorter screws), and did not see any washers pictured next to the screws on the parts list. Assembly diagrams two and three did include the washers, but they were too small for my old eyes. Hey, nobody's perfect! Guys don't usually read the instructions anyway! (Note to self: When all else fails, read the instructions.)I bought this chair online as a last resort, as the local furniture stores only carried office chairs on wheels or on four legs, not the sled bases that I wanted to buy. I would much rather pay a little more and buy a chair already assembled that I can try out before buying it. Returning a package this large would not be easy.05/10/13 update: The seller, OJ Commerce, had another company, Belnick Inc., of Canton, GA, send me a package of four replacement footpads for the chair. Way to go, guys! For that prompt response and repair, I upgraded my chair review from three stars to four stars, and gave the seller a five star rating.07/29/13 update: The chair has proven to be comfortable to use after adding a thin chair pad to improve upon the chair's rather hard seat cushion. I also had to remove the footpads to prevent carpet damage. The chair now slides better on the carpet. The chair also started making some creaking noises. I had to add some lock washers to both sides of the regular washers and tighten up the screws again. Hopefully, that will keep the screws from loosening up.
