Ultralight Backpacking Trowel, 0.48 oz (13.5g) Red

This trowel was well reviewed by Dan Becker and I thought it would be a nice, light replacement for my homemade aluminum angle iron trowel. This trowel by Bogler is well made and will be easier on my hands with its plastic handle tip.Post 1st use Edit: This trowel works fine in somewhat loose soil with small roots. I haven't tried it in rocky soil but it might struggle there. I think with careful use this trowel will do the job in most conditions I will run into in the Rocky Mountains.First use impressions after 8 day backpack trip: This tool really works well as long as some care is taken. In 8 days of use it shows no wear and is ready for more trips.

This Trowel is great! Way more lightweight than expected, yet it feels sturdy enough to dig easily through most soils. I have only used it a handful of times (thankfully) but I know that I can always count on it. Comes in a handy plastic bag that I repurpose to store the trowel and some TP in. I also love the plastic stopper at the top for easily pressing into the ground, which a lot of other trowels lack. Great value for the money!

Love this little trowel, it's lightweight comfortable in the hand and can handle the rocky ground here the the Northeast while it won't move large rocks I didn't have any problems digging out smaller rocks and small roots. The button on the end helps keep the trowel from digging into your hand like some other lightweight trowels of a similar design do. I find the tool worth the price I paid for it, it seems like it was made with quality in mind. I highly recommend this trowel for anyone who needs a lightweight trowel for digging small holes. This would also make a great beach shovel that wouldn't get carried away by the tide like the cheap plastic ones do.

Great tool! So light weight you seriously can’t feel it. Also very affective and digging, even cut through plants roots with the rigid sides! Very impressed after taking it through desolation wilderness Lake Tahoe. Price is great and made in USA! Can’t go wrong! Get it!

After seeing all the videos on YouTube about how good this trowel was I finally ordered one for myself. I knew it was lightweight, but dang this thing is super light! It feels like it would bend when digging but I went out to my backyard and dug a few holes and it held up great. My yard has small rocks and roots and it did great. I think after watching all the videos it meets my expectations. The best part is the plastic peice on the handle that keeps it from digging into you hand.

This is a fine product and I think it may have extensive utility in field hiking and camping. Although intended for creating cat-holes, it's a strong little digging tool which I believe will serve well on other trail duties. I've just received a pair of these trowels and took them out for a test dig. Used according to instructions they performed well and did not deform. I was looking for a small, light weight tool to include in my basic survival packs which I keep in the truck and always carry in the outdoors. These will serve admirably. I would certainly recommend and buy again.

trowel worked great on a four day backpacking trip. The shovel end was adept at cutting through small roots while digging. It’s compact and lightweight for backpacking. I can see that it is stronger when used in a scooping digging motion only. You wouldn’t want to twist it or bend it any other way direction.

Lightweight and sturdy. Not indestructible, but darn good for being that lightweight. Very thoughtful info card came with it. Nice!
