Q: Are they water proof?

The plastic connection housing is waterproof. But water and mud can get inside to the wiring and prongs. I have to periodically disconnect them and wire brush and clean the metal prongs so I have good metal to metal contact. Cleaning may be required but I haven't encountered any rust on the internal wiring components. Just dirt and mud. Hope this helps.

it's possible but I doubt it. Just don't know. they are nice and high quality though.

Yes, it’s a perfect fit for 8 ga

Q: Can these be used where they would be exposed to rain or splashing?

They are marine grade, so yes. I used them for my trolling motor with speed control. They get soaked and never have an issue. I would recomment soldering the wires into the fittings for a more secure fit and seal.
