Q: Can anyone compare this to the Ace model?

This is one of the best wrist support strap I've used. It still allowed me to play using injured wrist without impeding movement. I highly recommend this product. It is better than the Ace model which I have tried too.

Q: Is this soft enough to wear while doing jiu jitsu/grappling/mma (and not have any sharp or rough edges to cause discomfort for partner?

Yes it is very soft. It provides some support if you tighten it up. But I keep it a bit loose. It provides warmth for my arthritis. I sleep with mine on & it doesn't bother me.

Q: Can this be worn on either the left or right hand?

No. It is different between left and right.
