Glad I read it
Usefully filled in some gaps in my knowledge of church history thus helping me to understand better how the church developed into what it is today

Waste of money
To my great disappointment this is a catholic church history. Waste of my money and time. It should state somewhere on the cover or description what it is. Item binned no use of it.

Christian history that grabs you up!
Was looking for a book on Martin Luther and saw this. Decided to buy although it wasn't what I was really looking for. SO GLAD I DID. History wasn't my first choice during my educational experiences until I took a class with the absolute best educator I ever had. I'm brain challenged as my career paths were as an accountant first and psychologist second. But history written by honestly unbiased authors is my "happy choice" for pleasure reading. I am ordering additional copies to give to some family and friends whom share my Southern, Conservative, Christian beliefs. And both my grandsons are getting as books to put in their own "special" bookcases! We sometimes need to be reminded why our predecessors lived the blessed lives that they did. History ignored will be repeated...

Eye opening
I knew Christ’s church has a tragic past but you’ll see how evil pervades its beginnings and onward. Haven’t finished yet but the Catholic Church, its popes have controlled the religious field since Rome.

Much more thorough than I expected
There were many new facts presented in this history than taught in Catechism. While it was extraordinarily interesting, at times it was just that: lots of facts. Granted, there is so much to cover and the history is complex, it does read a bit dry. I recommend this for research:5*, for fun 3*.

The growth of the Church
I found this reading interesting because I enjoy reading history of the church. I found it easy reading to understand the beginning of the church and how people used to serve and worship during the early church stage

A good foundation
I would call this book a good foundation of Church history. The book is two books in one. The first part is Church history. The second book covers the impact of the Reformation. The book takes you from the death of Christ to present-day life. It gives you a short description of the major events in history. It throws in a little theology here and there like Calvinism. This book is not a complete tell-all history. This is the book you get to start your journey to enlightenment. It will tell you where to look for the juicy twists and turns to learn more.
