How come makita doesnt sell hex bits separately?. of course i broke my 5/64 and now looks like i get to buy another complete set. drat.

I’ve been selling Makita tools since 1995. Makita isn’t in the business of selling bits and blades. They buy those and put their name on it. You can buy individual bits. Irwin is one brand. I sell those too. Just make sure you get an impact bit. Those are way more sturdy than non impact bits. Hope this helps.

Can you use these to drill holes in drywall safely?

Yes you can safely, however you should probably use a masonry bit. These will dull out quickly and will end up being useless for drilling other materials in the future. Look at the :DEWALT Masonry Drill Bit Set, Percussion, Concrete & Block, 7-Piece (DW5207) on Amazon for drilling into drywall or something similar.

Is there a specific way I should be taking the drill bits out of the case?

Either side of the case will pivot up towards you, like on a hinge. Once you swing them so they are pointing up, just grab the bit you want and pull straight up and the bit should slide right out of the case. Be careful, they are sharp.
