How well does the sub actually work, considering this only connects through 3.5mm?

Even a 3.5mm connection can get a strong bass. You can connect the speaker to your computer, youtube video, MP3, Internet radio... This audio will sound great!

I want to plug speakers into my monitor that has one aux Jack. Does the entire system work off of one aux Jack?

Hey Joe. Yes, the audio mini plug should be a stereo jack from the monitor. That way you get stereo sound. Otherwise, you may only get one signal. I hope this helps.

Personally , it has never been inconvenient at all. There is no Remote control unit for this product though.

where does the other end of 3.5 mm plug into ? I dont understand how the sound is being carried to sub?

The USB end goes either into the computer or into a plug charger block. The ⅛ inch jack goes into your source device (mp3, ipod, android, iPhone, or whatever you want to amplify.
