The lives we left behind is a 40s inspired novel, following the lives of two female teenagers from contrasting backgrounds, exploring their unknown feelings for each other and facing societal challenges. it was entirely captivating from start to finish , Olivia’s writing spoke to me like no other authors has before. I am truly invested within the story line, the characters are beautifully written and perfectly portrayed. It felt as if i was there with Thea and Angie, watching over them. As I am someone who doesn’t frequently read, I found this novel extremely easy to and never found myself bored or wanting to put the book down. I take it everywhere with me as i am truly invested within this storyline and cannot wait for the sequel! It goes without saying how talented olivia is, especially as she wrote this when she was 16, I know this book will help others and to achieve that at such a young age is such an accomplishment. ♡︎♡︎

I loved this book. I’ve struggled with my sexuality for many years and Ive dealt with people like Mary in my life. It also makes me realise how timeless this type of romance it is as I relate it to my life with my partner. This book has truly influenced my life and I can’t wait for the sequel!
