The Fitting Book: Make Sewing Pattern Alterations & Achieve the Perfect Fit You Desire

Excellent purchase. Simple to follow and well illustrated. If you’re a beginner, I recommend this book. It’s not a drafting book, it’s a book that shows you how to perfect your draft to get the best fit. Also gives a clear introduction to terms and concepts.

Be prepared to use along with the QR codes on each page. Each page is a summary of the directions. You really need to watch the videos to get the full directions. Having the book is a great! It’s like having class notes. The notes help me remember video contents. No more watching videos over and over. I’m not new to sewing, but I’m new to doing more than basic alterations. This will definitely be one of my “go to” books.

Lots of pics and good show of the direction of wrinkles on real bodies, some demos for skinny, some voluptuous, and where or how to adjust. Very extensive, comprehensive manual.

This book is chalked full of information. Information is what I need, instead of frufru pictures that’s just taking up space for valuable information. The diagrams are simple, easy to read, so that you can confidently apply your corrections, to the patterns. If you are looking for a coffee table book, this ain’t it. If you’re the type that just want to cut to chase, get ready to work.I am certain those who left 1-3 stars, only thumbed through the book, and got flustered by the volume of information and basic shapes. I’d advise you, if you’re feeling this way, take in small chunks, bit by bit, and you will feel happy that you selected this book. Again, it’s not a luxurious, Disney, thumb through type of book, it’s a guide which will remain by your side. Happy Sewing.

This is THE book I’ve been waiting for. The Fitting Book includes EVERYTHING needed to achieve the perfect fit, including videos for every fitting correction through the QR codes - absolutely BRILLIANT idea!!!If you’re a beginner, take it step-by-step. There’s a lot of information here and you will understand it IF you invest the time in reading it. Understanding how to fit will “Click” for you with the information in this book.Plus this book has information that other books don’t have, including how to balance tops/pants patterns, understanding cap heights, measuring the body for the cap height/width, measuring the shoulder width, explaining the calculation theory behind FBAs and SBAs, she tells you when you should choose certain corrections over others, and her theory in draglines is brilliant. You won’t find this in other books.I also love the customization scale that outlines the many options in achieving a customized fit.It’s a must-purchase for your sewing and patternmaking book collection.

This is a great book and it’s so up to date( published in 2021)! The content for pattern alterations and fitting is thorough, and the QR codes included on almost every page are so useful. It make the physical book even more versatile - you can just use your phone to scan the QR code and watch the 1-min video instructions that worth more than 100 words and many images in a book. The writer really puts her heart and soul in this book. As a fashion design student for a few years and a person who wants to make my own garments that really fit, I fell in love with this book as soon as I started reading this book as it really speaks my language. I really appreciate it and I highly recommend this book to those who want to investigate in a good fitting book.

I have a number of fitting books and this is at the top of my list. This is an excellent book. I took a class where the teacher wanted me to add a dart where my muslin was cut too large. This book will tell you how to recut your muslin to get rid of the extra fabric.

This book is great. I have learned a lot and it is my go to book on how to adjust my patterns. I am self taught adjusting patterns. I am still learning. I suggest buying this book if you want to start adjusting your patterns for a better fit. I also just ordered her Fashion Design and her Curvy Fashion Design books. I get them tomorrow.
