Not up to the job
This product came nicely presented and appeared to be fine. However after only a couple of uses of the narrow point gimlet, the tip broke off whilst trying to get a screw starting hole in an ordinary hardwood window frame. This caused problems because the tip of the gimlet was now obstructing where I needed to fix the window handle. It also seems that the 'lifetime' guarantee on Silverline tools only applies if you have registered the item onto the Silverline website - within 30 days of the time of purchase.I've bought loads of Silverline tools over the years from Amazon and didn't realise each individual item needed to be individually registered within 30 days. Maybe I should have gone on their website and checked the small print, but I didn't expect that type of restriction with such a reputable company. I still have the Invoice but that's not enough. So be warned and remember to register every little silver line purchase or buy from a company whose tools don't break after a couple of uses.

basic useable products
original purpose to help set up shelving modules good hard sharp long shanked gimlets - they are however not the most comfortable handles - BUT at this price very acceptable productsthe bradawl and the awl will replace my decades old worn items (used and abused)satisfied that these are more than ok for occasional use and are sufficiently accurately made for decent cabinetry if you are so moved - for lots of use I would still prefer wooden handles (higher cost)

Do not waste your money
The twist gimlets are not fit for purpose. The depth of thread is too shallow to screw into even softwood without huge pressure, and they do not remove wood from the hole. Yes, they are dirt-cheap, but still vastly overpriced. Avoid.

Good calue
These are very useful. My house is on 4 floors, I like to have the basics on each floor. This pack was ideal and the items from it has worked well. How long they'd last with heavy use I'm not sure. Price shoes I received good value for money.

What I love most about these things is that they have stopped ...
What I love most about these things is that they have stopped me swearing so much when I'm trying to drill holes for screws in the right places. Drilll a guide hole smaller than the screw you'll be inserting, then shove the gimlet in and mark where the hole is: this is a GREAT method I have developed for making alcove shelves. There is a well known saying: "Measure twice, cut once." To this I would add, "Gimlet twice, drill once."
