The BEST CLIPPER EVER and works for multiple dogs unlike others. Totally worth it.
This is an awesome nail clipper. I bought a cheap one about the same price and it was made so cheap and broke the 2nd time because the spring wouldn't stay in. The only part. This one is Great. I love the fact it was made with some thought and has a lifetime warranty. They actually put sturdy parts and it also is the only one I found that adjusts for another dog. I hate clipping dog nails and this just made it so much easier for anyone that is scared of clipping their dogs nails.

I LOVE the fact they make small ones now!
There's nothing like the Zen clippers. You won't understand until you've tried them. How easy and quick they are. They don't make a sound either and it's quality made!

Work Really Well - Make Sure They Are Tightened
I really like these clippers. Here are the pros and one con that I have noticed so far. The clippers came in a timely manner. I love that they are adjustable for multiple size pets. They are very comfortable to hold and easy to size. The one con is that the hole is shaped a bit odd and takes some getting used to. However, I did adapt to the shape and they are sharp! No splitting the nail at all when properly tightened. For those that say they split the nail and don't seem sharp, first I noticed the nail was splitting and there seemed to be some wiggle room between the two blades, like they weren't flush against each other when cutting. I noticed there was a screw. I tightened the screw up just a bit and the problem was solved. They cut great after that. Just do an inspection of the clippers before use to make sure they don't need to be tightened up a bit. My dog hates her nails clipped and she still didn't like these, but these were faster and more precise than our old guillotine style clippers. No bloody accidents and less crunch noise as well.

Easiest Clipper for dogs!
Super easy to use and our very picky 60lb Belgian Mix does not even flinch when we use the Zen Clipper on her nails. Great product!

Very good safety mechanism.
I have had dozens of clippers and there are the first ones with a depth safety that actually works. Pretty durable construction, no slop in the pivot and sharp blades. Once you set the correct safety depth for your dog it is is smooth and quick to get through a paw before they know it.

Too lightweight for a 16 lb. dog
This is the third Zen Clipper I've purchased. I started with a "fixed size" model; it worked on some of my 16 lb. dog's toes, but 'one size doesn't fit all' my dog's nails. I did like the concept and the quality construction, so I ordered the standard size adjustable model Zen clipper. It changed my dog's life. He's always been terrified and nearly unmanageable for his nail-clipping; now he's becoming almost docile because there is NEVER an accidental overcut. But it's a bit too beefy for a small animal like mine. While that wouldn't be an issue for a dog 25 lbs or more, its wide jaws are difficult to work with on such a small paw. I thought the "Junior" model might be my dream clipper, and it arrived just when I need to trim my dog's nails. What a disappointment! First, I set the Junior to match the opening on my standard Zen clipper (4.4 mm on my calipers). The problem showed up on the first toenail. When I got the nail in position and squeezed the handle, it met the opposite handle before the nail snipped, and I couldn't apply further pressure. On the second try the nail did cut, but not cleanly. The second toenail snipped on the first try--but only just as the handles met! Unfortunately, the pivot joint flexed slightly in the process, which left another imperfect cut. It caused enough discomfort, too, that I checked to make sure I hadn't somehow nicked the quick. I hadn't, but by that point I knew these clippers were of no use to me. The "Junior Zen Clipper" is well made and all, but it's extremely lightweight. It should be called the "Micro Zen Clipper". I wouldn't recommend it for any dog over about 6 or 7 pounds. I guess I expected from this otherwise excellent company.

Foolproof once adjusted for your pet
This review only applies to dogs. Never tried it on a cat, or Mongolian tit mouse, etc. What a relief! Once adjusted to your pet's toenail size so the hole between the blades stops sliding up the nail well before the quick, the sharp blades cut through the nail without splintering. And because it is impossible to cut anything outside of the toenail inserted into the adjustable hole between the blades, no worries about cutting your pet's toes or stabbing their foot if they squirm around. And because it holds the nail to be cut in place and cuts quickly and cleanly, your pet has very little time to squirm out of position. One possible criticisms would be using the cutters as recommended leaves the nails a bit long. But it is so easy to cut them again, all you have to do is schedule nail trimming a bit more often. Another thing to note that really has nothing to do with the clippers themselves, is the clean nail cut leaves sharp edges that should be filed down a bit. I use a small battery powered grinder that is wimpy enough that there is very little chance of taking more material off then just the sharp edge of the cut nail. Such grinders get the surface of the nail hot enough to smell like burnt hair, so a wimpy one is a good choice for touch ups that will not scare your pet.

Terrible design, so disappointing after loving the non-adjustable Zen Clippers
I had been using the non-adjustable Zen Clipper in the 4 mm size, it was wonderful and my dog and I were completely relaxed when I used it. I never had to worry about cutting the quick, I could have trimmed her nails blindfolded. Unfortunately, during a dental procedure, a vet tech decided to "do me a favor" and Dremeled my dog's nails way too short. They grew back wider at the ends instead of pointed and the 4 mm Zen Clipper no longer fit while the 5 mm one is way too big. They don't make a 4.5 mm which would have been perfect. I had in the past tried the first adjustable clipper Zen came out with and returned it immediately since it was like using a hedge clipper on an 11-pound dog, way too big, among other design flaws. So I called the company and asked if there were any way they could make the Zen Clipper I loved in a 4.5 mm size. I have no idea why they skipped that size since all the other sizes go up in .5 mm increments. The woman with whom I spoke laughed at me and said their new Junior version of the adjustable one would work fine for me. I told her of my issues with the larger one and she kept insisting the Junior one would be different. So I relented and ordered it. I tried to use it for months, too long for me to be able to send it back. I quicked my dog many times because the hole is not round, it is diamond-shaped, and depending on how the nail goes in the dimensions are not the same. The head is way too big so difficult to position around the nail without hitting the pad of the foot, if my dog moved at all the nail would rotate in the hole to the larger dimension and slip too far up the nail. If I didn't realize it I would cut the quick, if I did realize it and try to remove the clipper, my dog would flinch and the clipper would end up stuck, hanging off her foot, and freak her out even more. This clipper does not make a clean, smooth cut without sound like the non-adjustable one does, it seems to more crush the nail. It might be OK for a large dog but is very cruel for a small dog. The adjustment wheel is easy to turn accidentally, too. The blades are so thick it's hard to see where the nail will be cut and how much will come off. It's just a horrible tool. This experience has ruined the trust I had developed over the years with my dog during nail trims and now she needs to be sedated when I do it. I have to use a regular clipper which is nerve-wracking for me after all of this. Zen should be embarrassed to have made these adjustable clippers and push them on people, especially after their original clippers have been so wonderful.

Great idea but…
It’s reasonably well made and the adjustment is very fine which is great for a kitten to make sure you avoid the quick. The issue I have with it is that the jaws are very big, to the point that I can barely see my cats claws while I’m trying to get them in the hole and taking several attempts. What should be a two second job per claw is taking a lot longer and the cat starts to get restless. The jaws are unnecessarily large and could be significantly smaller so you can see what you’re doing and would also be easier to manoeuvre the claw in without the paw obstructing it. Probably fine for a dog. Overall a great idea but a bit large and over engineered.

Make life much easier!
It was a huge pain to get the nails trimmed for my 20lbs 2 years old Shiba Inu. Tried different types of clippers, nail grinder, and even the grooming hammock, but nothing really worked. Zen clipper is like a miracle. I started with a smaller size to let my dog get used to it, then changed to a bigger size to have the nail work done. No more bleeding and no more stress!

Easy to use
I was surprised at how easy these clippers were to use. My 8 month old kitten is quite lively! but we were able to clip her nails surprisingly easily with these clippers. Once set to an approximate size, the hole easily slides over a nail, allowing for an easy cut. The motion is easy, quiet (so it doesn't freak her out) and they cut cleanly. Very happy with this purchase.
