Fabulous!
I will get the negative out of the way first, the cable. It is so thick and heavy I believe it puts stress on the connection to the drivers. I had to have mine replaced after one side developed a loose connection. If only Grado did this headphone with a detachable cable. Now to the positives. These are simply the most musical headphones I have ever heard (I have tried many, even at four times the cost). They sound amazing! If you don’t love these, you don’t love music. Lush and warm yet clean and clear. The mids are a thing of beauty (both male and female vocals sound so alive). The separation and timbre of instruments is wonderful. The soundstage is wide and deep. When you hear these headphones you won’t care for measurements, it’s all about the MUSIC. Many headphones tend to sound best with certain types of music. Not the Grado’s. Every genre of music sounds equally good on this headphone. At this price there is simply nothing to compare. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Really fabulous headphones
On a whim I decided to try out these Grado SR325x headphones. I knew that I could return them within 30 days. I'd seen some people say very good things about them and other saying rather bad things about them. My suggestion to you, if you are wondering about these headphones, is try them out. They are very easy to drive and will work very well with nearly all DAC/amps. You can just plug them into the headphone output on a mobile phone, but they will sound a lot better with a dedicated DAC/amp. However you won't need a very expensive one. So I tried them out and I'm very glad I did. These are really fabulous headphones. They capture the energy of the music so well, they bring out all the fun and enjoyment in the music better than any headphone or speaker setup I've heard. Hi Fi people talk about "pace, rhythm and timing", PRAT, well, these are really superb in this area. The Grado SR325x headphones also bring out great beauty in the music. Instruments and voices sound really beautiful to listen to. I don't think these headphones are 100% accurate, but they are so very enjoyable to listen to. They do score very well with all that normal Hi Fi stuff, the stereo image is very good indeed, the bass is very full and defined, although it does not go really deep. I think that the only negatives with them really are that the treble is at time too lively. They are a bit golden sounding in the treble, but I don't mind either of these things very much because the strengths are so great. If you haven't tried these, please do! You won't regret it.

Grado SR325X
Lovely sounding headphone and considering it's an "on ear" I didn't find it too uncomfortable. It impressed me enough for me to go further up the Grado line and get a pair of RS-1X, which I love even more. The only negative is that the fixed cord is a bit like a fire hose - stiff and quite heavy, which in this day and age is unacceptable.

Wide soundstage; bright and detailed sound.
I've bought a lot of headphones in my time - not exceptionally expensive ones - but I did buy Apple's AirPods Max a month or two ago. Things got a bit more complicated (for me) when Apple Music added 'lossless' files partnered with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res to Apple Music recently. A bit of research made it clear that bluetooth headphones (yes, even the £500+ AirPods Max) couldn't take advantage of lossless music files, only wired headphones can do that. Apple do make a £35 cable available to be turn the AirPods Max into wired phones, however. More of that a bit later. I then read that to take advantage of lossless competently I needed something called a 'DAC' - a digital to analogue converter. I chose the ifi Zen Dac - not the most expensive - but has good reviews. I used the Zen Dac with the variety of phones I had 'in stock', but didn't feel I was getting the most of the quality that was available. I then happened across a review of Grado headphones, which I hadn't heard of before. Grados are 'open backed' i.e. you can hear the sounds around you and someone else in the room can hear what is emanating from the Grados when you are playing music. I bought a pair of Grado 125e's and liked them - a bright, detailed sound giving exceptional instrument separation. I then read about the updated Grado X range and in pursuit of excellent sound, have just bought a pair of the 325X's. I think my headphone 'journey' has finally come to an end. Unsurprisingly, the further you go up the Grado range, so the quality improves. The 325Xs, for me, are excellent. The separation of instruments, the apparent width of the 'soundstage', the bright but accurate sound is really great. I've played lots of lossless music now comparing the 'wired' AirPods Max with the Grado 325Xs - and the Grados win 'hands down' in my view. I still like the AirPods Max - they are great in the Apple ecosystem - but for 'audiophile' music listening - I'll use the Grado 325Xs with the ifi Zen Dac. I'm finally satisfied!

Seriously flawed headphones
Fabulous sound but seriously flawed. I have owned the st 80 s for a few years and they are not the most comfortable headphones but I could put up with this for the excellent sound quality. These were just painful to me with the flatter ear pads. The cable is ridiculous, very heavy and stiff. For the life of me I can’t understand why anyone would fit a cable like this to headphones.

Excellent, good value headphones.
I first heard about Grado headphones in the mid nineties when What HIFI would sing their praises. I am a fan a large floor standing speakers and the deep bass they generate. But these Grados 925x pleasently surprised me as their performance, musicality and their ability to handle dense and complex music. They are a robust and well put together construction with a thick, fabric covered cable and the only weakness being foam pads, that are easily changeable. These are not cheap headphones, but they are good value for the Quality of sound reproduction and do represent good value. I really enjoy listening to the 925x, and can recommend them to anyone who adores quality HIFI.

They break - frequently - due to the thick cable
Bought in 2022 - they lasted 4 years before dying. Whilst I enjoyed them, there are two big drawbacks that would stop me from buying them again. 1) The overly chunky cable looks good, but actually just puts more stress on the soldered joints in the driver - and that fails time and time again - just check google. 2) The earcup foam surrounds are very uncomfortable, so using for more than an hour at a time is painful. Will be choosing Sennheiser HD 600 next.

Absolutely amazing
Wow, just wow. What a piece of kit. The best headphones I have used for a long, long time. The clarity, detail & ability to capture the slightest nuance just draws you in. I have no problem with the cord, or fit. Love em!

Broken on arrival
You would expect that a handmade headphone would be tested before being shipped. Only one side of it had sound, the other side did not work. Cables are also very loosely attached and can be moved all the way inside the earcups. Does not feel well made at all.

Not your typical headphones...
If you want Beats headphones, then these are not for you. They are not particularly comfortable, and they fall off easily so can't use them for workouts. Also the cord is bulky so it makes using it with an iphone difficult. When it comes to sound, looking at the frequency chart, this is not a "flat" studio headphone. So why would you want these?? First let me say the sound is not particularly colored sounding... In terms of frequency balance they sound in the same ballpark as ATH-M50's, so if you like those or the Sony MDR, then this will give you the same general type of sound range and 'flatness.' They do not sound treble-heavy the way others might sound bass-heavy. But what those peaks in the treble range do give is an incredibly musical clarity to certain recorded instruments: Pianos generally sound amazing and clear; you can hear the note and the release, and really hear the performance (of course this relies on the recording having that level of information - but this sound is lost in an M50 or MDR). Pianos sound like they're in HD. Certain cymbals, hihats, some string instruments...sound equally amazing. None of this matters if you just want some background music while you do other things; but if you actively listen to music and this music tends to be of the acoustic flavor, then these headphones help bring out the clarity of certain instruments the way a high end audiophile speaker system would. Bass and acoustic bass instruments are equally clear and resonant sounding; from a listening perspective these headphones have as much bass response as the M50s, only with extra clarity for acoustic instruments. How to try out these headphones if you are not an audiophile: set up a track of music with acoustic instruments and plug in your old headphones... listen for one particular instrument (like a piano or a particular drum) and make a mental note. Then switch headphones and listen to the same track while mentally focusing on that same instrument. Also, if you are looking for a gift for a music-person and wondering if they will enjoy these... the answer is YES. They will love them, even if they have not heard of them before.

Ai(Gemini)
