Buy this, you will save money in the long run.

After using this coffee maker for a while, I can honestly say it's the best and most consistent one I've ever owned. The quality of the coffee is what really sets it apart. The flavor is remarkably similar to a good pour-over—rich, smooth, and full-bodied without any strange taste from the machine or its materials. Every pot has been consistently excellent. I also appreciate how simple it is to use. There are no clocks, timers, touchscreens, or endless brew settings to scroll through. You simply choose half pot or full pot, turn it on, and let it do its job. It heats up quickly and brews a full pot in just a few minutes, making it perfect for busy mornings. The brewing temperature seems to be right where it should be, and the hot plate keeps the coffee at an ideal drinking temperature without making it taste burnt. By the time I finish my first cup, the second tastes just as fresh and enjoyable as the first. If you're looking for a coffee maker that prioritizes making exceptional coffee over packing in unnecessary features, I can't recommend this one enough. I purchased a KBGV Select in "polished silver" because it was on sale (less than $200 for Prime day). What a steal, right? Ha. No, these guys are trying to dump inventory because they know how poorly they were built. I was very hesitant to buy one of these, even with the deep sale price, because there are sooooooo many reviews calling out chipped hot plates, switches just "dropping out" of their slots and dangling inside the chassis, and even used/dirty/broken parts on arrival. I got mine today and I made sure to video record the unboxing in case the Amazon customer service bots try to give me a hard time about returning it - which I am doing (my wife just finished completing the request for a UPS drop-off). Anyway, I opened it up and did NOT see any chips on the hot plate. "Jackpot!" I thought to myself. I sat the unit on the counter and admired how nice it looks. It does look nice, in my opinion, as a big paper weight. But I digress... I went to test the switches. Power switch is nice and snappy, and clearly turns "on" and "off." I also can hear the clicking sound people mentioned in reviews, which can help get your attention when the heating element turns off (or so people say). All good there. Then I went to check the brew selector switch - the one that lets you choose between "half pot" and "full pot" (yes I know that's not exactly how the function works but I'm not sure how else to describe it). When I press it to the "half pot" side, it kind of clicks a little and stays in place, but it's "squishy" feeling. As in, the switch isn't firmly secured in the slot. I made sure not to push too hard because I didn't want to dislodge it. When I press the "full pot" side of the switch, it's very "muddy" feeling and doesn't click or "engage." If I push it a little harder it does stay on "full pot," but otherwise it pulls back over to the "half pot" side. I just don't trust it. It doesn't look like an assembly issue. It seems more like they use switches that tend to be defective, or they aren't using compatible parts. The switches look to be pretty similar, but they're installed at a 180 degree orientation relative to each other. I don't know if maybe one of them is installed upside down? I'm not going to take anything apart to find out because I don't want to screw up the return process or make things difficult. But maybe that's the case. After all I've read about Technivorm Moccamaster products, I thought this was going to be my "forever coffee machine" (sorry I've watched too much HGTV). But it's junk. Like actual junk. I was going to buy one of the new hi-tech machines with a bloom function and temp control, but I thought to myself "Nah, I'll get the moccamaster because they sound like the Miele vacuum cleaners of the coffee world." Forget it. Now I know how Alaska airlines felt when that 737 door plug blew out. Maybe former Boeing employees work at Technivorm.

After using the Moccamaster 53928 KBGV for a while, I can honestly say this is the best coffee maker I've ever owned. I've had plenty of drip coffee makers over the years, ranging from inexpensive models to premium brands, but none have consistently brewed coffee as well as this one. I usually buy my coffee from an outstanding local roaster because I enjoy freshly roasted, high-quality beans. The Moccamaster brings out flavors I honestly didn't know were there. The coffee is rich, smooth, perfectly balanced, and never tastes bitter. Every morning feels like I'm drinking coffee from a great café. What completely convinced me that this machine is something special happened by accident. One weekend I ran out of my favorite coffee and didn't want to drive into town, so I stopped at a convenience store and bought a bag of a well-known budget coffee brand. It's the kind of coffee you buy because it's available—not because it's exceptional. I brewed it in the Moccamaster while friends were visiting. Several people commented that the coffee tasted much better than they remembered that brand ever tasting. One even asked if I had mixed it with another coffee because it was so smooth. That's when I realized what this brewer really does. Great coffee becomes outstanding, but even average coffee becomes genuinely enjoyable. The precise brewing temperature and extraction make an incredible difference. This machine gets everything possible out of the beans without over-extracting them. Like many reviewers, I had one concern when I first opened the box. For a coffee maker in this price range, I initially thought there was more plastic than I expected. After using it, though, I completely changed my opinion. The plastic is thick, well-made, and clearly chosen for function and durability. It doesn't feel cheap, and after daily use, I appreciate that the design is focused on brewing performance rather than unnecessary bells and whistles.I also appreciate that the Moccamaster is refreshingly simple. There are no touchscreens, apps, Wi-Fi connections, or dozens of settings to fail over time. You add water, grind quality beans, press the switch, and a few minutes later you have one of the best cups of coffee you've ever tasted. Sometimes simplicity really is the ultimate sophistication. If you're wondering whether the higher price is justified, my answer is absolutely yes. The Moccamaster isn't expensive because it's flashy—it's expensive because it consistently does one thing exceptionally well: it brews outstanding coffee. I've reached the point where I judge coffee makers by one simple question: Does it make me look forward to my first cup every morning? The Moccamaster does that every single day. If you're serious about coffee, I don't think you'll regret buying this machine. It's one of those rare products that actually lives up to its reputation.

I only took a star off because I think the normal price is a little high for this. I feel like it should realistically be in the $250 range. You're paying for the name. Build quality is decent, but there was more plastic then I was expecting. It all does seem like its by design though and as long as your not throwing this thing on the ground very often, this thing should last you a good while before parts have to be replaced. It's a very simple machine. Other then that, this thing makes great coffee. That's it's whole purpose and it does it very well. It was an easy set up out of the box. The manual that comes with it gives you great info on the ratios you should use. Quality of the coffee is really going to come down to the freshness of your coffee. Grocery store bagged stuff is still going to taste like grocery store bagged stuff maybe slightly elevated. I can tell you that with fresh beans from a local shop, this thing shines. I normally do pour over with my Chemex (which I still love), but this thing provides close to the same results in half the time without the guess work. Perfect temp too. Chemex is still coming out on weekend mornings when I have time, but this baby is taking over for the work week. As I said previously, it's a very simple machine. There's no timer on it or anything on it so what I've done is I have this connected to a Govee smart plug, prep the night before and just have the plug scheduled to turn on at a certain time so my coffee is ready when I'm walking out the door. This has worked flawlessly. Although a bit overpriced, it so far has been living up the hype. We'll see how it holds up in the long run but I'm happy I purchased this.

Scooped this during a Black Friday week sale. Price was great. Notably better tasting coffee with all the local roasters I use and my Eureka grinder. I do pourover. I use a timer to have this make coffee (plug timer) so it's waiting when I wake. Technivorm was great in servicing the machine for a small cosmetic problem. I like their approach--they go through the machines that are brought to service so I had additional quality control of sorts. Used daily and not a single problem 30 grams of coffee to .5 Liters of water gets me quality.

I received the "Stone Grey" Moccamaster 53949 KBGV model yesterday (7/24/2024) from Amazon, with Amazon sale and delivery. Yes, it is easy to use and brews delicious hot coffee. The kudos given by other reviews are merited. But this one has a manufacturing defect. Very prominent and immediately noticeable. It is a roughly 1/4th inch round'ish gouge deep into the hot plate warmer which digs deeply into the metal, completely removing the black enamel that otherwise covers the warmer in that spot, leaving bare metal visible. Amazon's shipping box was fine with no outward sign of damage or rough handling, the manufacturer's product box was similarly fine with no signs of problems nor mishandling, and the product inside was very well packaged and was internally supported very well to prevent damage. So clearly it is a defect that occurred prior to packaging. Thankfully it does not affect usage, brewing, or warming results -- The glass carafe does not rest on the gouge. So this defect is effectively "cosmetic" in nature. Just wish it wasn't there, because I will see it every time. Since this is proudly listed as "hand built", it is very disappointing that whomever assembled this particular coffee maker, plus whomever performed final inspection prior to packaging, actually let this be approved for sale. So buyer beware. Since the manufacturer was willing to ship/sell this one, there is thus a potential for other buyers to get one that is also damaged or defective in some way. This particular high-end coffee maker is otherwise fine. Which is why I removed just one star for Poor Quality Assurance. Overly harsh? Well, shame on whomever for letting it get to a customer. EDIT: I see now (7/25/2024) a review by another customer here who shows a photo with an identical gouge on the hot plate warmer. This indicates that mine is not a one-time manufacturing error. So other people buying these expensive coffee makers can potentially receive one that also has the same manufacturing defect. Penalized another Star, down from 4 to 3.

Our grind and brew machine died on us and so we started using a French press and/or Areo press. Both options worked fine, but I like to make a pot in the morning so my wife can have a cup, and I can take the rest to work in a thermos. I started watching reviews on drip coffee makers and came across this unit. Everything about it was appealing. -THE LOOK- Aesthetically, it's stunning. Timeless, classic look. It's very clean, the textured finish looks very durable, doesn't finger print, and the color choices are excellent. (I wanted the pistachio color but once I pulled the trigger couldn't wait for it to be shipped so opted for my second choice). While brewing it looks neat as the water bubbles up the center column and into the outlet. -THE BREWING OPTIONS- Very basic controls, but the half pot select allows you to not only brew a half pot, but modifies blooming duration. From there the sky is the limit with grind options and strength without all the buttons and programming. It's also pretty fast- full pot in 6 minutes. -THE TASTE- I've had it 5 days and have made 7-8 pots... It's the best tasting coffee (obviously the beans, grind and everything can make the difference... but when I have a Tim Hortons or Starbucks it's just not the same) and I drink black coffee. -THE DESIGN- If it ain't broke... this design has been around for 50 years and is hand made in the Netherlands and comes with a 5 year warranty. It's not ground breaking but that's the point. Keep it simple. Quality parts, copper heating element, and separate elements for water heating and the carafe. The removable water outlet arm is a nice touch if it gets a fingerprint on it or if your need to clean- simply pop off. -THE PRICE- Ok, so this is super expensive for "just a coffee brewer" but personally I'd rather spend big money on a quality piece that has service able parts, rather than a machine 1/3 the price that may only last 2-4 years. This is a lifetime machine if cared for. Personally I drink at least 3 large black coffees/ day. Starbucks dark roast black is $4.00 CAD. It'll pay for itself in no time. -THE ONLY NEGATIVE- The glass carafe seems really fragile and thin. I'm paranoid it will break. I do not allow anyone to operate my machine as I'm scared they wouldn't be as careful as I when I rinse it. So if you buy pre ground coffee and want an easy pot of coffee, or like to grind fresh and experiment in grams per liter, ground size etc... but must have the best- buy this.

Makes delicious coffee and looks very sleek in my kitchen. Happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Me parece un poco cara. Está fabricada principalmente de piezas plásticas. La jarra receptora es de un cristal muy delgado y se siente frágil. Las primeras 2 o 3 veces que la usé me decepcionó por la escasa extraccion que producía un café insípido, pero empecé a jugar con el tamaño de la molienda y cantidades de manera diferente a la que usaba en otras cafeteras de goteo y entonces sucedió la magia, el café resultante es realmente delicioso. Yo uso el sistema de media jarra y esta se filtra en menos de 4 minutos. También me di cuenta que seguramente el secreto está en que la cafetera logra calentar el agua a una temperatura más adecuada a diferencia de otras cafeteras más baratas. Sin embargo también observo que el contacto del agua caliente con el café molido no es parejo, ya que el café que queda más alejada del chorro caliente no es tocada por el agua, de tal manera que siempre al inicio de la filtración muevo el café con una cuchara. Mi unica duda es, al ser tan rápida la filtración, no se estará desperdiciando una gran cantidad de café? Y una más, la caja dice Made in China y eso me preocupó, pero en la base de la máquina se confirma que es europea.

El producto venía dañado! es una pena que después de ver tantas opiniones de este excelente producto venga de esta manera. me dí la oportunidad de hacer un gasto tan grande y me llevo una gran desepcion. A veces lo caro sale muy malo ni hablar como decimos en México... va pa atrás! The product came damaged! It's a shame that after seeing so many reviews of this excellent product it comes this way. I gave myself the opportunity to make such a big expense and I am very disappointed.

これは販売者向けだが、電源プラグが3ピンタイプで変換プラグも付属していないので開封後すぐに使えなかった。変換プラグを別途購入する必要がある事を商品ページで記載するべだと思う。 機能自体は満足しているが保温機能があまり長続きしないのでステンレス版にすればよかったかもしれない。
