Buxton Heiress Pik-Me-Up Checkbook Keeper

This is a pretty item but there are some issues. First of all, the retail price shown on the listing is deceptive; it should not be $26.99. My wallet arrived with the Buxton tag still inside and the suggested retail price is $12.00, as shown in the attached photo. So, the $26.99 retail price stated is deceptive. Also, the compartment for bills is too small and the bills do not quite fit, plus the plastic carbon protector for checks is too short and does not completely cover the check and carbon beneath.UPDATE: After using this for two months, I do not recommend it. The compartments are cut too short and my checks' backing keeps tearing because the bill compartment beneath it is too small and tight. (Also, there is no coin compartment and that is inconvenient.) This is just cut WAY TOO SMALL AND TIGHT and I break fingernails trying to take out my D.L. . DO NOT BUY IT!

With a phone and a tablet in some of my medium purses, I decided I needed a slimmer checkbook wallet...and one that is big enough to not get lost in my larger purses. This looked like a good compromise. The problem is that if the inside pockets for the bills was 1/4 inch longer, I could slip the bills in back of the check book. With the cardboard there, I could only get three bills in the space. Well, to be honest, I rarely, rarely write a check once away from home, so I decided to take the checks out, since there was not a protective cover anyway, and just folded one and put in the picture folders, which I did keep in the wallet for seldom used cc cards, library cards, etc. I am going to have more space because of the smaller size, but I just wish I could have put a few more bills in it. One good thing is that on the back, there's a pocket for parking stubs or other temporary things one can get to quickly. The inside card says suggested retail is 12 dollars.

It's true. It is just a tad small, for the checkbook and register and the bills. I'm hoping it will loosen up as I use it. I had a previous model, but may not have been this same brand that I loved, but I wanted a new color. I read the reviews and was suspicious. Is it really smaller? Yes, it is. I can fit the money in there, but it's very tight. I'm considering folding bills in half to make it easier. Also, the plastic shield for the duplicate check is smaller and doesn't quite cover the area it needs to. It might work better for the side check, but for the top check, there will be some extra writing on some of my duplicate copies. It doesn't affect the original, just the copy you keep. I can fit my register behind the checkbook, but again it's tight. If there was just a quarter of an inch to a half inch more in the width and length, it would be perfect. If you think this will annoy you, keep looking. I don't carry the clear wallet pockets in mine - that might make it even tighter. The tobacco color is just like the website shows - it has some grain marks in it, which I didn't notice until I got it, then looked again at the picture. That's fine by me.

I love this! The quality is great for the price. It has a nice feel. The standard size check book pad and ledger fit in it nicely without having to wrestle to get them in and without having to cut the edges off to get them to fit. This is the first one I have purchased that wasn't a hassle to get the checks and ledger in. I would buy it again and will if I find it in other colors. I would also recommend it to others. The only thing I noticed is the pen pocket would only allow for a very slim pen which might bother some people. I didn't take any stars away for something so unimportant to me.

This is a very nice, well made wallet/checkbook holder. There is plenty of room and space for your checkbook, credit cards, money and ID. There is also a zippered change purse on the back. The only problems I have with it is the checkbook register does not fit comfortably in it and when you add a pen, it makes closing the wallet difficult, making the wallet look bulky. I still like it though and have always been happy with Buxton products.

Wallet is smaller than I expected, but that prompted me to clean out my wallet of unnecessary items to make it work. I do really like the leather and overall appearance though. I did have a hard time finding an ink pen that would fit and there isn't much, if any, room in the outside zipper for cash/change, but in this debit card age, shouldn't cause much of an issue. Overall, I am pleased with the wallet and am using it.

This is a nice wallet/checkbook holder. Soft leather. Very similar to what I had, which was fine except that the plastic sheet used for duplicate check writing tore half way off. That one lasted for almost 20 years, hope this one lasts half as long. It was less than half what I paid for my old one.

I have been buying Buxton wallets for 35 years. This is the first one I have purchased that I am not completely pleased with. The wallet is very tight. By that I mean it is very difficult to access bills, credit cards, and especially coins. It's almost as if they scrimped on the leather. I am hoping that in time it will loosen up some, but I doubt it and I will not be ordering another wallet online.
