Poor choice for beginners
As an experienced magician, I purchased this book for my nine-year old grand-daughter who's interested in magic. We struggled to follow the incomplete directions, understand the diagrams, and perform the simple tricks in this book. After two hours and several attempts with different tricks, we finally gave up on this book. Much clearer books for beginners are available and are better choices.

Want to be a magician?
First let me say I have been a professional magician for more than 50 years and I don't know how to review this book. On the plus side it contains a great starting point for teaching a beginner class in magic for children age 9 and up or after school programs as the tricks taught do not require any special props and are easy to find. What I worry about is that the illustrations are minimal and therefore, some of the tricks are going to be hard to learn. Second is that no effort is made to give any story or patter suggestions that would turn the tricks into real entertainment.Still, for the money you are taught 25 tricks at a very low cost, and provided a good starting point in learning or teaching magic.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

basic, but easy to follow
The tricks in this book are all simple and basic, but they are easy to follow. I intend to share this with my 12 year old son since he likes learning magic.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Unhappy
Less than fifty pages of nonsense. Content was of very poor quality. Save your money.

Great instructions
This was a gift to a 9 year old boy. He picked up the tricks very quickly. Good understanable instructions.

Simple book but very expensive
The tricks were very basic. But the book is priced very high for such small thin basic book.

Time travellers should buy this book.
I read the entire book last night within 1 hour. I then looked at similar tricks from a popular video streaming website (YOU know which), and I learned more in 5 minutes watching videos than I learned reading the book.Videos are the way to go - performers show you exactly how to hold the coins/objects and how best to distract the audience. These sorts of essential details cannot be conveyed through the written word. For anyone needing a book to take on time-traveling adventures to a time before 1995, I give this book 5 stars. For those of us with internet access:As of June 2024, this book was on sale for £3.50, which is about £3.50 more than I would recommend anyone pay.
