Which side is bottom of Filter? What direction should I put it in?

The flat part of the filters goes down. The filters bumps are to be on the top. Hope this helps you.

Ours gets slimy every few days. Filtered water from the fridge and runs constantly. What gives?

Some people has said this is normal after a couple of days but I clean mine every other week and it does a lightly slimey on the stainless steel but no crystal deposits. Make sure you run filters through water for a bit before placing in fountain when they're new. I fill with water from fridge as well and no issues. I wash mine in hot soupy water then rinse with hot water as well and let it dry on a dish mat. You should also take apart pump and make sure you clean pump when you clean fountain. If pump gets slow that could give time for more bacteria to build up. Hopefully one of these help.

Can you turn the LED light off without turning the fountain off?

No, you cannot, there is no on/off switch on this fountain. The LED light and the fountain both automatically come on when it's plugged in.
