A Great View A Hard Read
I love her story but the way she writes is a little hard to read sometimes. I found myself thinking, "nobody talks like that", do they?

Witty, funny and a fun read.
Written during Bette's "World Tour" pre-The Rose film release to make herself known to foreign countries. It is a tongue-in-cheek, but insightful and hilarious, witty and snarky best seller from around 1980 and is a quick and funny read. A true original and with a great sense of humor about herself and life in general. Loved it!

A VIEW FROM A BROAD
I was disappointed in this book. It was not what I expected. That is entirely on me. I assumed the writing would be clever and funny. Ms Midler is just that, however her writing was not witty or interesting at all. Even the texture of the pages were strange. I ended up thumbing through most of the pages to end the pain of my disappointment.

a previous reviewer said there was nothing humorous in the book and nothing in it sounded like Bette Midler wrote it
I have always looooved Bette Midler so I am a little biased as far as reviewing the book. However, a previous reviewer said there was nothing humorous in the book and nothing in it sounded like Bette Midler wrote it. I totally disagree! Throughout the entire book there were little "quips" that sounded exactly like something she would say. I was giggling and chuckling throughout the entire book picturing her in that situation. I loved it and it is now one of my favorites.

First Chapter of THE Career
Great insight into the early years of the Divine Miss M. A must read for any fan who is looking for insight into the mind and spirit of this woman. Here's hoping she's got a second book in her soon!

Good bedtime read.
Read the book in spurts as you have to get into her sense of humor. If you read it straight it seems like gibberish. She is a smart lady who doesn't want us to know she is.

Makes you want to get your own mermaid costume
An honest dip into the magic that makes us love her. She paints a full and colourful picture to follow her voyage, but behind it all is one of entertainment's hardest working Divas

Bette
Bette is the best. I hadn't had a chance to even look at my book when it accidently got in with the laundry. That's right, ruined. I'll have to get the money together to purchase another used copy because being the Bette fan that I am I must own a copy. Damn, I must be more careful. Ugh.Oh, it arrived on time and was in great shape.

Waaay too expensive!
I'm a big fan of Miss M., but $34.95 for a breezy fly-through of her usual schitck in the written word? "Really, Bette? Are you short on cash so need to gouge on the price? "I should've looked at the price before ordering.Still, it's an amusing fan purchase.

Saying that as I have been seeking this book for many years I was happy to have finally found it and read it
An interesting account of Bette's early touring experiences but not exactly what I was hoping for. Bit of one darn thing after another rather than a truly personal account. Saying that as I have been seeking this book for many years I was happy to have finally found it and read it.
