The Forager's Pantry: Cooking with Wild Edibles

Recipes mostly
Was looking for a book that would show the plants to know what to collect. This tells you what to use for ingredients. Looks like some good recipes but that’s it.

Delicious recipes in The Forager's Pantry
Ellen Zachos is a forager extraordinaire, full of experiences and rich with knowledge, and with a writing style that takes the reader right along with her. I'm not an adventurous eater, but some of these recipes whet the palate. Among her favorite edibles, complete with easy-to-follow recipes: common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), a native perennial in the eastern part of the U.S. Ellen has written several foraging books, including The Wild Crafted Cocktail. There are a few delicious recipes in her newest book, The Forager's Pantry.

This book is a forager’s friend!
Ellen’s knowledge and know-how is always impressive to me! This book does what many foraging cookbooks (and cookbooks PERIOD) don’t: it helps you build the foundations on which you can make your own recipes!Already a staple in my kitchen!

Recipes you can adapt!
What I love most about this particular cookbook is the recipes are adjustable based on what you happen to forage. This makes it much more interesting and helps you learn to be a better experimenter in the kitchen, a better cook!

Better Resources Out There Would Not Recommend
Pretty disappointed in this one. I was on the pre order list for months in anticipation for this book. I’m at active forager (girlfriend is a chef). There are much better resources out there for foraging and preserving. This book was just a repetition of the same techniques over and over. Also not a very good book if you live on the west coast as a lot of the plants aren’t available where I live. Very disappointed and would not recommend.
