HIGHPOINT Bed Rail Fastener, Set of 4

I've put these on two beds now and can't imagine using any other hardware. I set up a jig to help speed up cutting a notch for the metal pieces to fit in with my router, then finished the corners with a chisel. You also have to cut slots for the metal hooks to go into on the female piece. Regular wood screws work great with them. When installed correctly these fit really tight and are not visible at all (it helps if your board is at least 7/8 to preferably 1" wide or wider). Everyone who sees the beds I made asks how I get them apart and it is fun to show them how easy it is.

I didn't use these for what they were intended for. I had to make a set of extension wings for my miter saw. These worked perfectly.I cut a lot of crown molding and baseboards I need long extensions on my miter saw they just dont make what I need so I have to invent it.

If you install this properly, it makes a rock solid joint that looks great. It does require some practice runs on scrap wood since there are some gotchas involved (the 3x3Custom YouTube channel explains this in depth). It can also be a little tricky to route the mortises on a long stretcher with no reference surface, but it's doable with a simple jig. I did have an issue with the pins on one of the rail attachments sheering off, but I contacted the seller and they promptly sent a replacement set with expedited shipping. Nobody else seems to have had an issue like this so I'll chalk it up to a fluke and recommend this product.

Could be made stronger. Tend to warp if the mortise isn’t flat.

If you have the patience to mortise, I think this is the best hardware you can buy to join bed rails.

No hardware in sight, just polished walnut and bedding. Very clean. I used a trim router to make pockets, very easily done.

I just spent a week building a custom bed out of hickory and walnut.I put these on and the tolerances are real sloppy.To put it mildly i am pissed off like you would not believe

The quality is "ok" on these, but they do work if the each piece is mortised a little further into the wood. I was also disappointed that only a #8 screw would work anything larger and there would have been interference with the fasteners.
