High quality
For work , these could not be more comfortable. They are built of high quality and very sturdy. I wear these daily five days a week and have stuff in all the pockets. The phone pocket is very convenient and holds your cellphone very well. I forgot to take it out one day when riding my harley home and left the phone in the pocket and when I got home it was still there. So now I leave it in the pocket every day when I ride my harley to work and ride it home. The knees are double layered which gives a slight cushion when you do have to get down on your knees to get something. My only drawback is they do not have a 36th length in my size 40 waist. When standing, they look just right length. But when sitting down they ride high. Do too missing a thirty six inch length. This is my only drawback to wearing these pants.

Classic Carhartt Quality and Great Functionality
These pants are great: Carhartt quality (stitching, zippers, material, etc.), functionality (the pockets and their placement are no accident), fit, and style. They have solid stitching, strong zippers, and material that doesn't wilt at the sight of something abrasive or pointed. They're not exactly summer material, but they're not too thick to wear on a hot day--maybe that has a lot to do with the cotton canvas material. They feel like a lightweight painters drop cloth, if you ask me. I can tell someone other than a fashion designer (that's a good thing, for purposes of my comment here) thought about the pockets. They're sized and placed practicably. I don't get much use out of the hammer/tool hanger loops, especially the larger one (the one on the right is wider than the one on the left). One of the best features of these pants is the fit. They sit where pants are supposed to sit (on a guy, anyway). I'm not sure what the proper definition is as far as "at the waist" or "slight at the waist." I just know I don't have to "part the boys and choose a side" when I want to wear these pants where I feel naturally comfortable wearing them! Lastly, the style is a good balance between "I actually do something for a living" and "I spend more time than I'd like in an office chair." I work at a place where I could be in a meeting with business-like folks one minute, and called out into the field at a construction site the next, and these pants live up to both worlds. Depending on the stiffness of your management, you might be able to sneak these in on business casual day with a nice polo or button-down. I own pairs of the tan, light-brown, and army green pants. The tan ones are the "fanciest" looking of the three and are really an off-white shade. The light brown pants are lighter than the picture shows, which isn't a bad thing. The army green pants are also lighter than the picture, not too far from the color of a used military seabag--I guess it's slightly muted olive drab.

very comfortable pants!!
these carhartt pants turned out to be incredibly comfortable. i find myself squatting and kneeling throughout the day and they always feel great. i’m 5’6 140lbs and got the 30x30 size pants and they fit amazing. the only issue i have is the dye of the pants. the first time i washed the pants (along with my laundry pile) i noticed that some of my clothes had black stains on them. this had never happened before i threw in the carhartt pants. i tried scrubbing it out and applying stain remover but to no success. at that rate, i doubt the color of the pants will last very long. bottom line: pants will likely be durable, but the color of the pants will probably fade

First impressions--Updated 9/15
I'm a white collar worker who gets out in the field a lot and I was looking for an alternative to Dockers and to blue jeans. A little more formal than the latter and a little (or a lot) more durable than the former. If these hold up like the other reviews tell me they well, then I may have found what I'm looking for. Sizing: I followed the other reviewers advice and ordered a size larger than I usually wear. I've been wearing a 34x32 in jeans so I ordered a 36x32. When the arrived, I thought they were too big. Just a smidgen too long and roomy in the waist, but after the first wash they are perfect. One reviewer suggested just measuring your waist and ordering "whatever the measurement is, that's your size." Not true. Vanity sizing exists in mens clothing too. The legs of these pants are larger than either jeans or Dockers. Kind of like boot-cut jeans at the bottom...but carry that width all the way up. Definitely not as sleek as a pair of Dockers, but good if you're actually doing things other than sitting or standing. The cell phone pocket holds a smartphone. I try and check back later to discuss durability! Update: The durability is awesome. I've been wearing them for well over a year and with a pair of Dockers the bottoms of the legs would be frayed. But what I really like: That side pocket. Probably designed to hold a small notebook, but it's a perfect fit for my Samsung S5...slides right in, and easy to retrieve. I really love these pants!

DANG, I love these pants
Good fit, comfortable fabric, just enough pocket space for my needs. I've only had them two months, but no quality or wear issues so far. If they hold up more than a year, I'll be even more impressed, because this fabric feels way too soft to be durable. I wanted something with extra pockets for work or street without looking like a Blackwater contractor; mission accomplished. I wish the phone pockets were a little farther forward so I'm not partially sitting on the phone, but otherwise no complaints. Great deal for around 40 bucks. Anything cheaper I've found to be garbage. Update after buying my third pair (more of a rant about sizing, so feel free to go back to the top and just buy them already): I've been a 32/32 for as long as I can remember. For reference, I'm 6' tall, 165 lbs. I've bought three pairs of these, all 32/32, and they fit perfectly. I wanted to try some cheaper options, so I used Prime Wardrobe to get six pairs of Amazon Basics and Goodthreads cargos in various cuts, both 30 and 32 waist. The 30s were a good 2" too big, and of course, the 32s were falling off. Had to send back all six. I've had similar experiences with Walmart jeans, but I thought it was just them. Here's the interesting part: An actual, no-kidding tape measure says it's 33.5" around my waist, including underwear and work shirt (which I tuck in). That means an apparently growing number of clothiers are understating their sizes by as much as 4 or 5 inches. (It also means I'm probably not actually the same size I was in college...) I've always scoffed at women's sizes (and plan to continue), but at least they're only fudging an arbitrary number. Men's sizes are supposed to be dimensions, for crying out loud!

Great in Florida heat/humdity
I discovered these a few years ago and haven't bought anything else for work in my orchard since. Far and away the most comfortable in Florida summer's heat and humidity of anything I've found. Full cut so they don't bind anywhere in any position. Handy pockets. I don't know what different types of cloth mean. I've always associated canvas with tarpaulins, sails and the like. I hesitated to buy these pants for a long time thinking they'd be stiff and irritating. They are actually much lighter and software than jeans or other work clothes I've tried but I've been happy with their durability. Actually, I don't remember wearing any out. I've torn them up too badly to mend, dumped paint on them or done something else catastrophic and thrown them away first. I particularly like that I can keep coming back and getting more of these same pants. I really hate it when I finally find some piece of clothing I like, go back a year or two later to get more, and discover that the manufacturer doesn't make it any more. EDIT 6/14/2015 I've been buying these same pants for several years. The fabric and fit have been very consistent. The fabric in the ones I received recently is heavier and stiffer than in the past. I've washed them three times now They feel the same so I don't think they're going to get better any time soon. Also, they pull between my legs and irritate the skin when I squat or sit. This may also be due to the stiffer fabric but I think there's less room in the seat. (The older pants like this still fit fine so I don't think it's me that's changed.) The laundry labels on both the old and new pants have the same part number, size and description so I think I did receive what I intended to order. They both say "Made in Mexico" so they were likely made by the same manufacturer. I'm afraid Carhartt may have changed the specs deliberately. Maybe to make them more like jeans to please the people who've said these pants feel too flimsy to be durable. But I like these precisely because they did NOT feel like jeans. I don't know what to try next.

B151 is one of his favorite summer-weight pants and based on the fit of his ...
I was utterly frustrated with the fact that all cotton women's work pants I could find were low rise - which on my hips means impossible to keep up. I needed work pants that looked more reputable than my many-times-patched 2-decade-old (at least) Eddie Bauer jeans, and finally hit on the strategy of trying on my son's Carhartts to find out if men's pants might fit the bill. B151 is one of his favorite summer-weight pants and based on the fit of his many-times-washed pair, I guessed that 32x34 was a good starting place. I've washed and worn a couple of times, and am quite happy with the weight of the fabric, their ability to stay put (a belt is needed, but I expected that with a men's cut), and ease of movement. The perfect pants would, perhaps, be a bit trimmer, but since I really don't like to feel constricted, chose a model with a bit of spandex in the fabric (Carhartt Rugged Flex Rigby Dungaree Pant) when I tried 31x34. Having washed and worn both pants a couple of times, I've concluded that the spandex is necessary in the smaller size. Both are comfortable, look fine...and now that I've learned about the environmental damage done by the miniscule plastic fibers that wind up in our watersheds as we launder our synthetic clothing, I'm glad to have a 100% cotton option that works.

My go-to CA Fall hunting pants
These pants are well made, durable, and comfortable. I use them primarily for Fall deer hunting in California, where the typical temperature in mid-October is anywhere from 50-65 degrees, typically. These pants are durable. I've had 4-5 pairs for years and none of them have fallen apart, despite being subjected to trips, slips, falls, snares, snags, and other abuse while hiking/hunting through deep brush, scrub oaks, game trails, etc. The only critique or word of warning I have, which has been echoed by others, is that the waste runs small. You'll want to go one size up. If you're a 36 waist, order a 38 waist, and so on. The length is perfect, in my experience.
