How did I miss the memo about this book?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️🤔 How come nobody told me that I have to read The Roommate by Rosie Danon? Have other people read this? It’s the perfect, most wonderful book. Not only is it simply a great contemporary romance- well written, charming characters, good pacing of plot and character development - but it also has SUCH important messages in it - clarifying the the fight that women have to wage in order to demand $exual pleasure in our society and encouraging them to do so. Meanwhile, it’s a great romance and so fun!! And Josh, the MC, is simply edible 🍪@juliereadsromance

The Roommate -- Let's Destigmatize Women's Pleasure
Alright folks buckle up because this is the fun and spicy romance you've all been looking for. This is a book you'll want to binge, so I recommend putting a day aside (unless you want to be up all night reading...which is definitely not what I did...).Our leading lady, Clara Wheaton, has spontaneously traveled across the country to move in with her life-long crush Everett to try a kindle a romantic relationship. Upon arriving, Everett informs Clara that he's leaving for a few months to tour with his band, and is renting out his room to a complete stranger. Enter Josh: an insanely attractive, charming, and funny guy with whom Clara is now stuck sharing a space with. Soon enough, Clara discovers Josh's full-time job as an adult film star and subsequently freaks out due to her inexperience in the subject matter. However, when she finds out Josh's career lays in the hands of an overly powerful and sketchy CEO, she begins working with him on a side project that could change things for the better. Romantic shenanigans takes place, and Clara soon realizes that she may walk away from this partnership with more than a successful business."Loving you is like sinking into a warm bath after a lifetime of feeling cold down to my bones. [...] It's having someone see me, past the artifice and the posturing, and decide that I'm more than enough."I thought this book was absolutely incredible. Right from the beginning it hooked me and had me coming back for more. The characters were written and developed well, and I honestly couldn't find something I didn't like about the book until I read some other reviews. "Didn't like" is quite a stretch, but if I could change one thing I would have liked to see a bit more time spent on the conflict resolution at the end of the book. The ending felt a little rushed, but it wasn't enough to take away from my reading experience entirely. Overall, this is a a well written, fluffy, serotonin boosting read so if you're looking for that kind of book, I'd highly recommend The Roommate!Pros: 💚-great characters-awesome representation (sexuality, gender, occupation)-GREAT spice (spice rating 3.5🌶 out of 5)-easy read (flows well)Cons: ❤️🩹-slightly rushed ending**Spoiler below!!**-I don't love the "proposal at the end" trope (feels forced to push the story along)

Predictable but sweet
Not really the rompi was looking for, but the MMC was surprisingly sweet. Not a fan of the audio male voice bc of the accent he chose. Felt a little forced. But the story was cute and they had some good moments together. The plot wasn't that fun though, so I felt bored. I might read another book from this author, but not for a while.

Such a unique rom-com that I read in one sitting!
Yes, yes, yes. The Roommate was everything I wanted and my already high expectations were met and then some. Everything about this from the main characters, to the witty banter, to the hot and steamy scenes were absolutely everything. I don’t even know how to put into proper words how much I adored this book besides just saying I loved it over and over again.Clara is a rich girl from New York who seems to have it all, except the love of her life. She has always been prim and proper and done what her family has asked, but when her lifelong crush calls and asks her to move out to California with him she packs up and goes. Only one issue, she gets there and Everett, her crush, lets her know he is going on tour with his band. She will still be living at his place, but with Josh a guy Everett found on craigslist. Clara doesn’t want to run back home to her family and feel like a failure so she toughens it out and actually likes nice guy Josh. Except she finds out what Josh does for a living; he is a porn star. Not just any porn star, he has a different approach with women and wants them to have their needs met on and off the camera.Needless to say, this was a fun and such a unique rom-com. I loved Clara and how shy and innocent she was. When she finds out Josh is a porn star is actually hilarious and with Josh being so confident with his body and sex, it just made the atmosphere so funny and steamy. I obviously enjoyed the romance, but I loved the plot in this book as well. Clara is finally on her own and gets to decide what she actually wants to do with her life, and Josh is being underpaid and wants better than what he is getting. When the two pair up and want to accomplish bringing down the sleazy bosses of the porn industry I was digging it.While I wish Josh and Clara could have had some more love connection parts, I still enjoyed every minute of this book. I just felt like so much of it was sexy and steamy that I didn’t feel the slow burn love as much as I usually do in a rom-com. I loved the witty banter and just the outright really funny parts that made me giggle. I can’t wait to read more of this author in the future, because if the books are anything like this one, they will be complete 5/5 stars from me.

Cheesy, Cutesy, Romance
Quick read, with a little coming of age feel-good romance! Nothing overly spicy, and just the right amount of plot. Definitely a good book!

Sex positive and steamy
I enjoyed the plot, or rather, the subplot, of Shameless. There are some great ideas in this book, and I wonder if they are being implemented.

Realmente me gustó mucho. La recomiendo si quieres algo ligero
Realmente me gustó mucho. Sin embargo hubo capitulos dónde sentí que la historia se volvía demasiado lentaLos momentos donde no tenemos a Clara y Josh se sintieron más como relleno. Pero en general me gustó

Absolutely perfect !
Aaaah, this was so close to perfection !The only thing I didn't like was the micommunication trope that irritated me around the end. Apart from that, this book was everything I wanted so it's still a 5/5 for me !The feminism dripping in every page was so satisfying. I loved loved loved the concept of Shameless, a website around sex ed - with a little bit of spice - to empower women and help them understand their body, their sexualty and how to orgasm in different ways. It's so clever - and why is this platform not real already ? 👀I also liked to learn more about the adult entertainment industry. I loved the way it humanized performers and offered readers a way to understand more about porn without any judgment. Josh's and Naomi's challenges throughout the book made me understand how this industry doesn't take care of their actors and I hated how especially women are treated there. I could see how much the author did her research and I appreciated her effort to picture the harsh reality of adult entertainment. Now, about the romance : it was insaaaaaanely hot. My god, the sexual tension almost killed me. The chemestry between Josh and Clara was oh so steamy and off chart. I was on the edge of my seat everytime they interacted. They bring out the best in each other and watching them fall in love little by little was beautiful. Their love felt raw, honest and so damn cute.Individually, I liked Clara and saw bits and pieces of myself in her deepest fears and her lack of self confidence. But Josh was clearly the highlight of this book. I simply fell in love with him, I couldn't help it. He's forever in my top book boyfriends. He destroyed every code of romance : he wasn't a bad boy, and sure, he did have loads of sexual experiences (I mean, he's a porn star), but apart from that, he was refleshingly different. Depite his fears of "how could anyone ever want to be with him because of his job", he loved fiercely and didn't shy away about how much he cared for Clara. He was sweet, respectful, always caring about people around him. AND he was hot as Hades. Yeah. I know. I'm not kidding. Nice and cute guys can be insanely attractive and own their sexual energy as any toxic bad boys out there. And for that, I thank the author. Also, can I say the more I read third person romances, the more I prefered this point of view ?Anyway, if you are looking for an original romcom, with loads of steam and sexual tension, full of women empowerment, this one is for you. You won't be disappointed !

PERFECTION!
I'm just in love with this book in every possible way. It was funny, heart-warming, sexy, and everything I expect from a good romcom.Good-girl Clara's biggest fear is to disappoint her family, especially by causing a scandal, but one day she decides to leave New York to go live with her best friend, Everett, who she's had a crush on forever. But when she arrives in LA, Clara discovers that Everett is going on tour with his band, leaving her to share the house with... a porn star.Josh is just a great male lead. He's sexy, funny, confident, but not arrogant, and what's most important: he falls over heels for our good girl from New York.Rosie was able to write a great love story, that also tackles a topic that shouldn't still be, but still is taboo. We see in all of Josh's reactions that he's always ready to be judged because of his job, and when he is, the reader feels offended with him.I was very excited to read this book and also a little worried it wouldn't meet my expectations, but thankfully the worry was in vain.Perfect for fans of The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang!
