This Harley-Davidson: The Complete History is a gorgeous book!When the box arrived, I was surprised at how heavy is was. Opening the box, I actually gasped in delight: I thought it was ‘just’ the hard-bound book, but there is also a hard-bound case that goes over the book! I guess I missed that detail when I ordered it so it was such a beautiful surprise. The cover has cutouts so you can see the three motorcycles that are depicted on the front cover of the book—love it!I was so excited for my guy to open this gift. It’s just gorgeous, and the photos inside are of course in color and beautifully done.My BF is a Harley (and motorcycle) ‘nut’ so I was incredibly happy to give this to him, and he was super happy to find it in his gift bag for Christmas.He loved it, a lot!My photos don’t do it justice. It’s really nicely done.It’s a perfect coffee-table book or whatever else you want to do with it. But it’s made to display because it’s just a beautiful book.The history is divided in to eras. There are plenty of photographs. While I did not read any of the text, my bf will read every word.I really felt I got my money’s worth on this one. Almost $50 for a book may seem a lot, but a lot went in to making this book gorgeous. Worth every penny.I highly recommend.I hope my review helped you today.

Absolutely gorgeous!!

I have had Harley-Davidson motorcycles for over 50 years and though I do not pretend to know every thing about them, this is a great book about HD's history. The photos are top notch and the information is well written and accurate. I have read about 3/4 of it and have not found any mistakes, like some of the other HD books I have read. This book is not only informative, but fun to read with excellent photos. Buy it, read, it and it will take a place of honor in your library.

This was a good comprehensive history of the early development of H-D motorcycles, with excellent photography throughout. The last couple chapters got a little too involved with the people and business end of the company, and kinda left the 70s-to-present lacking. I would have liked to have seen depictions of the frame and engine developments from the F heads through all the various Vs from flatheads through the current Milwaukee 8s.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my boss at work. The look on his face when he unwrapped the gift said it all. He is a huge Harley Davidson fan and was gobstruck to get the book. My boss doesn't read much but I can guarantee he read that book from cover to cover.

For any Harley owner that is truly interested in the history of the brand this is a very well written bike. In addition to the details presented the pictures included are outstanding. I only have two minor complaints regarding the book that keep it from being a full 5 star. The pictures are outstanding but they aren't normally in the chapters related to those models. It's a bit confusing to be readying about a bike from 26 and the pictures are from the mid-30's and so forth. The other issue that I have is the font size is rather small and light in color. For those of us that are beyond middle age that makes it difficult at times to read and follow.

Having read several books on Harley Davidson, this one is, in my opinion, the best by far. Not only does it give a great pictoral history of the Harley bikes but also intersperses historical photos showing the Harleys and their owners/riders at various locales over the decades. This book is well done in that it does not overindulge in minutia yet leaves the reader feeling as if he/she just took an appropriately detailed walk through the world of Harley Davidson history, and most especially, Harley Davidson culture.
