How do you know which side to use as positive?

Generally the positive terminal on an aftermarket speaker is the skinny terminal, the wider/fatter one is the negative.

Will this fit a 2018 Mazda 3?

I don't know. If you go to the mazda website or an oem parts site, they have diagrams for each vehicle with part numbers. These connectors are super specific, and I had to buy these as my second pass for my daughter's ford focus. lol

I was reccomended this peice for my 2013 ford fusion by a best buy car specialist at an actual bestbuy. Here it says it wont fit my car. Should i buy?

Same issue here. Crutchfield recommended this piece for my 2014 ford escape but amazon says it wont fit. I may pay the extra dollar and get it at Walmart so if it doesn't fit I can take it back.

Do they work for 2014 explorer?

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't see why not.
