Scotts starter fertilizer is great
Bought this in 22 and used this year 26 and I am impressed. The new grass seed came up in one week and is completely full, green and deep rooted. I always use erosion control burlap blanket and water 3 times if no rain. When the grass is above burlap an inch or so I pull it up, throw more seed and starter again. I regret not rolling the soil after tilling.

I Highly Recommed
If you follow the directions and apply the correct amount you will have a great lawn. If apply more then the directions indicate thinking it will do a better job or apply less then the directions indicate to save a few dollars you will not obtain that beautiful lawn I mentioned.

Why does Scotts Fertilizer work so much better???
After twenty plus years of fertilizing our lawn and attempting to save money going to other cheaper brands, I always come back to Scotts! It kills me to pay up for Scotts! But it kills me worse to use a no name brand and watch the lawn struggle. If I had to guess, the difference is the 'carrier material' that Scotts uses, onto which they apply the fertilizing chemicals. Most fertilizers are a hard crystalline base material that seems to dissolve extremely slowly. While Scotts is a more 'clay-like' material that dissolves rather fast, getting the fertilizer to the plants faster. It's most evident when the fertilizer lands on a side walk, after a rain the Scotts will be dissolved into a big circle, while the crystalline fertilizer pellet will still be setting there. The only drawback is if you leave an opened bag of Scotts exposed to humid air, the fertilizer will absorb moisture and it WILL CLUMP UP and WILL CLOG YOUR SPREADER! Rendering it virtually useless. If you get all of the air out of the bag and seal it, you can avoid this.
