Brilliant and captivating book!
Once you start reading you will find this book extremely hard to put down. I know I did! I have just finished the book less than 5 minutes ago and I am already devastated it is over. I don't think I have ever been so invested in a book before. I did worry at first as I usually find it more difficult to read a book that changes point of views between different characters but this book is so brilliantly written that it played out in my head as if watching a movie. The author, Laura Harris, has such a beautiful way with words that the two times I did put the book down (if I didn't have children I honestly think I would of sat and read the book cover to cover in one sitting) I felt myself continuously thinking about the characters and how they must of felt. I felt as if each and every character was someone I had known all my life and I felt as if I was on that cruise experiencing everything myself. The plot twists through the book had be audibly gasping and kicking myself that I didn't put two and two together when certain plots points arose. I could honestly talk all day about how brilliant it was and the journey it has taken me on but as its now 4am and my children will probably be waking me up in an hour I will leave it here with a final note on the fact that this book is bloody brilliant. 10000000% worth the read!

A Great Debut Novel
Splintered For a debut novel this is a blockbuster. I do think the description of 'a psychological thriller' was misplaced, most of the psychology being in the form of self-analysis and conversation. For me this is a pure blood-fest, and as such a winner, I can easily see this as a late night horror film on my TV, it has all the elements. A disabled cruise ship on the high seas, a mysterious cold-hearted killer out for blood and torture and finally the shock for the reader at the end. It's a MUST READ! Splintered

Well-paced Thriller
I really enjoyed this book. I don't usually go for murder mystery or detective fiction, but this story zipped along at a comfortable canter, weaving the characters and plot expertly together. I guessed the main twist at about halfway, but not how it would unfold and that was a delicious surprise.

local girl
bought this because 1: I read about her in our local paper, and found out Laura came from around where I lived. 2: was talking about the article from the paper to someone I worked with and found out it was her relative. 3: when I read summery I knew I had to buy it. I wasn't disappointed, gripping from start to finish and not a predictable ending either. Just hope she writes more books I will be there for the next one right away
