BUYBAR Eco-Friendly Retractable Nylon Dog Leash with One Button Lock and Ergonomic Hand Grip, Large, Red

After a little practice, this great little retractable works like a champ with my 45lb. dog. Like a fishing rod, you can easily set the length you want your pooch to have and pull it back in when you want him/her close at your side. The round cord is less likely to hang up, but it is also harder to regain control if it's out all the way. I find myself holding the cord in one hand and the reel in the other so I can actually stop my dog when she gets too interested in a chipmunk hole or other fascination. Also, my dog runs back to me faster than the cord reels in, so it takes a few moments for the retraction to catch up. Overall, it works better for me than a standard leash for our feisty pup, and she feels freer because it is so light. I've been using this alternately with a leash to really test the difference, and I am very pleased! At her age, our pup wants to run a lot, and this allows her to do that when I can't. I am a 63yr old female who has owned many dogs in my lifetime, and will always love my furry companions! P.S. NEVER use this kind of leash unless you a holding it firmly yourself. Not for unattended use.

This dog leash is everything I was looking for in a dog leash! I have already gotten the opportunity to go on several walks with my Blue Heeler and out of all the leashes I have this is my first choice by far! The hand is soft and comfortable to hold onto for long walks, the dog leash locks in place and prevents my dog from wondering farther then I want (great when walking next to a road!), the length allows my dog to roam a great distance, and best of all it is far more affordable than the alternatives I have purchased in store.The dog leash is about 2 feet of ribbon and the rest is cord style, which allows for quick and fast retraction. This is good since my dog loves to try and run back to me faster than some of my other leashes can retract! I also find the lock button easier to work than some of the other leashes. It is a one button lock style but it has a quick button release which I can click on and off with no problems at all. They have excellent customer service!!!This is the second time I have bought this product.The first time I ordered this, I made a mistake and ordered it in black. I Immediately wrote to them and said I would rather have this in red and it was my mistake. They apologized and mailed it out immediately. I had it within a week. It came a lot faster then it said it would come.I ordered this leash because it said it was 26 feet long. This gave my little silky terrier lots of room to run. The rubber on the handle makes the grip on it nonslip when the dog pulls hard on the handle it doesn't slip out of your hands. I have had other retractable leashes that have had plastic on the handle and The plastic slipped out of your hand when it was yanked on hard.The only thing you have to watch is that the dog might chew on it and it doesn't take much for it to be chewed clear through. I got an 18 inch chain lead to attach to the second leash and I haven't had trouble with her chewing at all.I got a replacement leash within a month.Their customer service is excellent!!!

Average quality only. Biggest problem is that the return spring is too weak, so reel doesn't retract quickly enough, especially when it's almost fully retracted. My 12 lb rat terrier is energetic and likes to run around on the leash. She can run back faster than the reel can retract, causing it to loop slack onto the ground, which she gets tangled in. Not good! If you have an older or placid dog, may work OK for you. Looks like I may have to go with the more expensive name brand. Proving again that you get what you pay for, mostly!Edit 8/5 Haven't noticed anything to change my mind. Return spring IS too weak, and reel sometimes gets momentarily stuck when retracting last few feet. Can't see that getting anything but worse as it ages. Sorry now that I bought it. I should have paid a few dollars more for a Flexi.

Wow - I REALLY disliked this leash. I ordered this leash after my previous leash ripped through after getting caught on an undercarriage of a car. I thought its light weight would be a welcome change from my heavier leash (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B005NK5DEU/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 ). Unfortunately, this leash had a comparatively low tension so that it would drag after being fully extended and wouldn't wind back up quickly enough for me or my dog. After five days we chucked it and went back and ordered the same leash that had snapped.Another feature I thought was supremely annoying: the top button that you use to pause your dog's forward progression and the leash's extension does an automatic LOCK in place. I prefer a leash that you can press a button and do an optional lock by pressing upwards. This locks immediately unless you press BOTH buttons on the top. The second button is actually pretty painful to press, and after one walk I had a sore thumb. This is of course based on my 65 lb dog's energy level, our city-living, and how often I need to stop her forward progression. However, it made the leash completely unusable for me.Finally, another annoying feature I didn't consider before buying: the leash has plastic pieces both where you clip onto your dog and maybe 12-18 inches up on the leash. Of course, they're not locked in place and so they end up weighting the leash down so it drags next to your dog, making noise, getting tangled in their feet, and adding to the slowness of the recoil. I can't believe so many people wrote positive reviews....
