GREAT RESOURCE - DON'T DEPEND UPON FOR COMPLETE ACCURACY
The book is a labor of love, with much tremendous and valuable information about navigating Route 66. Be sure to have supplemental guide materials, including city maps and a road atlas for the United States: can recommend the 2022 Rand McNally guide. The EZ 66 GUIDE is well-recommended, but has errors that can create difficulties. My personal examples include the following: 1) incorrect identification of the Old Chicago Road, Illinois, as approached by Brown Road rather than the correct designation: MacPherson Road; 2) out-of-date and misleading routes into Springfield, IL; 3) extremely vague (turn at the house(?)) and, in one case, unidentifiable road direction onto Rte. 58, Hydro, approaching Clinton, OK; 4) errors in the EZ 66 Guide, mentioned by railroad museum and other local inhabitants in various Route 66 towns. I mention these because the personnel involved spoke of the author's negative attitude and non-acceptance of suggestions/corrections offered by the actual inhabitants of the locations previewed. That constitutes a red-flag, in my opinion.

Excellent resource for Eastbound travel
I've driven on short stretches of Route 66 on past road trips but this summer I will drive as much Route 66 as we can, stopping often to see the sights. The annual cross country trip will no longer be a 3 day marathon of driving all day and through the night while sucking down large coffees. I was using websites to plan before I purchased the Route 66 Adventure Handbook from Drew Knowles. The Route was part of the westward migration and most of the population driving Route 66 will start in the East. It is no surprise the websites and books out there are written starting in IL and ending in CA. I live in SoCal so I must read all these websites and even the excellent Adventure Guide -backwards. I am so pleased the EZ66 Guide has Eastbound directions at the bottom of each page! Hurray!! The trip is broken down into easy to manage sections with excellent maps showing older alignments, optional routes, and side trips -all marked as such, and some recommended by the author. The EZ guide was designed to keep you moving and seeing sites and not bogged down with dead ends and hunting every obliterated fragment of the mother road. Westbound and Eastbound directions for each section are listed on the same page with Westbound in a rectangular box at the top of the page and Eastbound in a rectangle at the bottom. The center text describes what you can see along the way and includes phone numbers and websites for many locations. The section maps list the mileage between main points in a box at the bottom. Exit numbers are included on the maps. Many detail maps are included to navigate through towns and junctions. There are even alerts spotlighting fun stuff like Giants, Photo Ops, notable or unique Gift Shops, Folk Art, Scavenger Hunts, Museums/Attractions, Car Games to keep kids out of video games and Spot Old 66 alerts to see many sections of abandoned road. The spiral binding makes it easy to stay on the section you want and the pages are thick stock so the book should last. People that complain about not enough detail -this is the EZ guide. Buy some/all of the many books the author references for more detail about the road, attractions or food/lodging if you desire.

I bought this book as I heard good reviews on it. I am British and planning to do sections of Route 66 over a few years. I have already driven the Black Mountains section through Barstow, Amboy, Oatman and Seligman as far as the Grand Canyon junction. Next month I am driving the LA section right through to Oklahoma City. As I plan to travel West - East, I was having difficulty finding guidebooks and anyone who has travelled sections of R66 will know how difficult it can be to find in some places! Although better for travellers going from East - West, this has a guide for those, like me driving in the "wrong" direction too. It is in a great ring binder fastening so it will be easy to use whilst travelling, appears to have great maps and additional places to visit if you have extra time. I have briefly looked through it and it looks like it will be a great help. I will see if it is as good as it looks and update my review on my return from the Mother Road.

Es bueno, mas que nada para saber como acompañar la ruta 66 sin caer en otras rutas.
