Best Dishwasher Detergent I've found
Bubble Bandit isn't inexpensive and it doesn't work miracles. But it saved me the price of a new dishwasher, and it cleans better than any other dishwasher detergent that I've found. I'll be a repeat customer. The bags aren't easy to use, so I just funnel the super fine powder into an empty, clear, two-liter soda pop bottle with a screw on cap. One bag fits inside a bottle nicely; and since the detergent is fine yet dense, it pours in and out easily without kicking up dust. (I taped a section of the Bubble Bandit bag to the bottle as a label, but anyone can see what's inside the bottle. I've had no powder clumping so far.) I discovered Bubble Bandit by accident while researching a replacement for my five-year-old dishwasher that was doing a horrible job washing everything AND whose drain system was constantly clogging with grease, etc. But when I researched reviews on new dishwashers, it seemed as if every one of them had at least a few reviewers complaining how their new dishwasher didn't clean as well as their old one had when it was new. I soon discovered that even with rinse agents, many people were getting filmy glasses and grimy "clean" dishes--as I was, but that finding a phosphate detergent was their answer. That's when it struck me that my dishwasher had also started failing me exactly at the time that most detergents stopped using phosphates. After more research, I read recommendations for Bubble Bandit and decided to order it. And although it took three or four empty loads--the last one with a cup of bleach--in order to really get the gunk out of my dishwasher, my dishwasher looked and smelled better than it had in years when I washed my first load. And that load self-dried in a much shorter time than usual and came out cleaner than I'd seen in years. My glasses were no longer filmy, my plates sparkled, and my pans looked brighter. Some things still needed a little hand-washing, but I never prerinse and always pack my dishwasher full--so that's expected. But I'm happy enough with Bubble Bandit that I'm now keeping my old dishwasher. I've started adding a couple of Bubble Bandit scoops to P. Allen Smith's homemade laundry detergent recipe (the one gallon liquid recipe), and it seems to have improved my high efficiency wash loads, too. Bandito Products has great customer service. I had a question about my order, and they were as honest and as helpful as anyone could have hoped. (Thanks, Phil, in customer care. :) And they shipped quickly!

Superb Performance
Since I began using this detergent, the stainless steel interior of my dishwasher is now sparkling clean. I no longer have to use a rinse aid and my dishes and glasses come out streak and spot free and beautifully clean. I had to run the dishwasher twice with detergent only to fully eliminate the built up GAK that was accumulating around the filter area. Now it stays nice and clean. My water is from a municipal supply that alternates between a renewable source and deep aquifer wells. The average PH is 7.8. I use an an ounce or so in my clothes washer with white laundry and it appears to eliminate any rust getting in the clothes and is slowly getting them back to white. Unfortunately I had purchased a new dishwasher thinking that my old one was the problem for my dirty dishes and machine. I bought a new Bosch that promised clean dishes and was really disappointed that I was still having the same problem. After searching the internet, I stumbled on some Bubble Bandit reviews and decided to give it a try. It works. Very well. I'm still very angry that I spent the money on a new dishwasher and countless brands of detergent and boosters only to find that the problem was with the removal of phosphates from the detergents. Wasted a huge amount of time as well. You should give Bubble Bandit a try. If you have a lot of GAK build up, you really need to get all that mess cleaned out of your machine before it really works well on your dishes. My machine was pretty new so I only needed to run it empty twice to get it cleaned out.

Good detergent for hard-water
Good product and works fine. The appliance store we bought our new D/W from recommended this product for our area which has very hard water.

Terrific for water problems!
This is so fantastic! AZ has really hard water but I dislike the way soft water feels or how it affects laundry, so I don't use our softener. This detergent makes it so easy! I had to use three different products and generally, my tableware still had a "raw" feeling to it after it went through our machines. I discovered this about a year and a half ago and it's all I've used since. My glasses- even crystal- come out totally spotless and I don't need to wash the dishes before I wash the dishes... The machine and detergent take care of everything unless I burn something on a pan. It is 100% worth trying if you have water or machine issues!

LOVE IT!!!
I have 5 kids and work full time so doing dishes seems like an endless and sometimes pointless task. I saved and saved and purchased my first dishwasher to help save my sanity and I was so upset at how dirty my dishes were when they came out. I did some research and discovered the whole issue with the phosphate that is no longer included in dishwasher detergent. I purchased a bag of Bubble Bandit out of desperation and I'm please to report that this stuff is great! It's a little pricey, and I have to stay on top of my supply because I can't just run out to the store and pick some up. I buy 2 or 4 bags at a time, depending on which packaged deal has free shipping at the time. I store it in an old plastic ice cream bucket that fits 2 bags perfectly. This stuff also works great as a laundry booster! I add a scoop when I have a particularly yucky batch of whites that needs a little extra help.

If your glassware is cloudy or dishwasher doesn't clean well, then this is a MUST HAVE
OMG This is a must have in my house. I was constantly calling the repair man because my dishes weren't clean. I even bought a new dishwasher. Nothing helped. At best glasses were cloudy and no additive or rinse agent could help. Then I found this product. The results are amazing. They are even better if you follow the directions. At first I was using too much or too little, but when now I RARELY have anything come out of my dishwasher that isn't clean and sparkly. Love how my glasses look. And no pre-rinsing. I scrape off food and things into the sink and load the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Bubble Bandit and the dishwasher does the rest. I buy it the 4 or 6 packages at a time and this is my third order over several years. I can't imagine not having it.

works like detergents did before the phosphate ban
the actual phosphate that should be used in the dishwasher and laundry is stpp (sodium tripolyphosphate - it is the second ingredient listed on the bubble bandit packaging). you can find bulk suppliers online for pretty cheap. rather than buying a non-phosphate detergent and adding stpp, i decided to try this since i did not want whatever is in the reformulated detergents interfering with the phosphate. there were only a handful of states that banned phosphates (surprisingly california was not one of them). commercial detergents (for restaurants, hotels, etc) with phosphates were not banned. my understanding is that to get the sheeting action in the new detergents, polymers are used. i would imagine that in the near future these will be found to also harm the environment in one way or another. if you compare the feel of recently washed items, the new detergents leave a slick/slippery feel as opposed to the phosphate detergents - the phosphate washed items feel squeaky clean. i am guessing the polymers coat the washed items to prevent residue and hard water from sticking to surfaces during the washing. i wonder what a polymer coating would do to plants and fish? i received the four bags of bubble bandit and with it one 5 tsp scoop. directions say to use 2 - 3 tsp, so about 1/2 scoop is used per wash. my first test was to wash dishes that had dried lasagna on them. i left them overnight, without rinsing. for my first load of two lasagna caked dishes, i used finish (the one with the red powerball) and ran the dishwasher on the potscrubber cycle. it got about 95% of the lasagna off. the second load i used 1/2 scoop of bubble bandit to clean 2 lasagna caked dishes on the normal cycle with the plates in the exact same location as the first test. bubble bandit cleaned both dishes completely. as i have been using bubble bandit regularly, i noticed the milky film on my glasses is gradually going away. i will continue to use bubble bandit as long as it is being sold with phosphates.

Not Impressed!
I bought this product because of the good reviews. However with both my old and new dishwasher (kitchenaid architect) I still have water spots and dirty dishes when the dishwasher has run a cycle (I do prewash everything prior to loading the dishwasher). Bubble Bandit also leaves white residue on the dishwasher door around the soap dispenser-I have altered the amounts of soap usage to try and correct the problem but to no avail. I also use a rinse aid-still nothing helps. I bought cascade soap and the dishes look better than when I used this product. They claim that it takes some time to clear out the lime and hardwater buildup so we used it in our old dishwasher for at least 2 months (following advise to run cycles now and then with an empty dishwasher). We thought maybe our dishwasher was too old so we researched the top dishwashers and found the kitchenaid. Bubble Bandit does not work in the new dishwasher either!
