AM/FM reception is good. The cassette player works quite well
The Broksonic Walkman is what I needed. Its twin built-in speaker is quite clear and loud. AM/FM reception is good. The cassette player works quite well. Recording is tricky. You must press the record button very hard in order to keep it (with the Play button) to stay down. Otherwise the buttons will bounce back up and you can't do recording. It has a 4.5V input but I haven't try it. It uses 3 AA batteries. The button switching from tape to radio is a bit loose, so getting to the radio might be tricky. The tape pause switch is funny. It is all by itself with marking on/off. If you don't read the instruction and move that switch to on accidentally then you can't play the tape. There is a built-in mic so it is easy to record speech. You can record the radio. One drawback is that it doesn't have line input so you can't record your own music. It do come with a headphone but the quality is so-so. Overall, for this price, it is a very good buy. I highly recommend it.

Ease of use is awesome! Took some time to see what each button ...
So you stumbled upon this because you want to play all your old tapes you found. Well you're in luck! This plays them! At a cost.Radio is okay. Doesn't catch many stations especially the ones with weaker signal (KDAY). But it sounds okay.Ease of use is awesome! Took some time to see what each button did as it's labeled awkwardly but you can just read the manual like a normal person. Now the important part, the tape player. It works. The equalizer does its thing. my only complaint is that it sounds like the player plays the tapes too fast and the audio is pitched a little higher because of that. I noticed it more when I put fresh batteries in it. I noticed the pitch change on all my tapes. It's nothing too crazy but it's notable. That said, the speakers on this suck. That's the only thing keeping it at 4 starts because price wise, you get what you pay for. But I like hooking it up through the AUX/3.5mm port to my home stereo to listen to my old hip hop tapes more loudly. Don't even use the headphones it comes with, they're useless.

The amp on it worked all in all for about ...
The amp on it worked all in all for about 30 seconds. While adjusting volume it completely died on me. I'm returning this for a refund and I'm just going to settle for another generic from Walmart.Edit: The day after I posted the original review, I was contacted by phone and email by the company. They offered to send me a replacement unit if I mailed in my defective one. They sent me a shipping label and within a week of sending it out, I got a brand new one! It works perfectly fine and sounds pretty solid for the price and speaker size!

Low quality, but gets the job done
I was looking for a cheap tape player to simply validate some old tapes I found had music/content on them. This tape player will play tapes and the radio, but not very well. The plastic casing is flimsy and cheap feeling. The buttons, knobs, and sliders work, but are kinda touchy. The switch between tape & radio seems to not work—I've just used a piece of duct-tape to keep the switch in place. I wouldn't buy this again.

Cool novelty cassette player
The good:* AM and FM reception is decent.* FM and Cassette playback are true stereo.* FM stereo reception indicator lamp.* Telescoping FM antenna.* Five band EQ. This works very well.* Built in stereo speakers.* Metal tape Switch. This works, though turning the Metal EQ on was only obvious with a good pair of headphones.* No hum and very little hiss when playing tapes. The fidelity and stereo separation for the cassette playback is very good.* Pause on/off switch for the cassette playback and recording* Cassette record function with built in mic.* Plastic housing and switches feel solid.* Tape functions for FF/RW, and Play work well.* The tape motor seems strong and can rewind a tape quickly and confidently.* There is small hole in the back of the player for adjusting the tape speed with a jewelers screwdriver if needed.* Headphones are included.* Runs off 3 AA batteries or 4.5 volt input.* Made in USA? This player is ostensibly made in NY. This would be great if true. The Not so good:* Cassette door sticks when removing the cassette on my unit. A good tug opens the door though.* Some tape flutter when playing a cassette. Not too bad, but it is noticeable.* No auto stop on Play, RW, or FF.* No auto reverse for the cassette playback.* priceyOverall a decent value for around 30$. It is not worth much more than that though.

Half of the functionality missing.
Radio works as advertised, the EQ is pretty alright, and cassettes play ok enough, but the record function absolutely does NOT work. This was the only reason I had bought it, so suffice to say, it has me fairly annoyed. It states in the manual that it contains an ALC (automatic level control) circuit onboard, which, from the devices behavior, seems to imply its function is to limit audio that is too loud and bring audio that is too quiet, like most tapedecks. The problem, though, is that the audio that ends up being recorded is barely audible, and when what youre actually recording gets quiet or not so busy, a horrid squelching noise appears. this was present both whilst recording the radio, and recording using the microphone. maybe using the device with a 4.5v battery instead of 3 AAs would solve this problem, as that is the only thing I havent tried at the time of writing to remedy the issue. If this is something that can be fiddled with if you opened the thing up, maybe it can be fixed, but otherwise AVOID if your intention is to record
