What size lag bolts are needed?

Not sure of the size. They came with the latch.

Will it still work with the wheel on the gate

It will work with the wheel as long as where it attaches to the gate and post line up! The ground would have to remain fairly level!

Will the round (gate) part fasten on 2" square tubing?

No it won't. Has to be 3 and 1/2 inches wide. Hope this helps.
