Good standby ink.
This is the ink I use in the Comics classes I teach. It's economical, and it is pretty much waterproof when dry so you can use water color with it. You can't do a big wash of yellow over a black area, but if you stay within the inked lines you won't get any bleeding. I've used this ink for years. It doesn't contain a lot of glue or shellac like binders so it doesn't gum up my brushes the way Higgins or other india ink can, even with the best of washing practices.

Great for dip pens
-I keep one little jar filled with Sumi ink, 1 little jar filled with rinse water. -I only use Sumi Ink on my paint brushes or my dip pen sets, where depending which tools I use creates a great deep black line art detailing in my work. -I mainly use 150gsm paper with this ink, takes longer to dry yet never soaked through the paper. -I have had the ink for months & I only use this ink on my favorite or just on large scale high quality paper. -Sumi ink should not be used in a Fountain pen. -My image is an example of my Goblin holding a Gremlin hand drawn with my Dip Calligraphy pens.
