The answer from Polomom is 100% correct. Buy the model DS532B, which includes the flute/clarinet/soprano sax peg for just a couple $$ more. The pegs hold each of those instruments pretty securely.

I currently have a semi-cheap hamilton alto stand and every time i go to rest the sax on it i freak out that it's about to fall. is this stand better?

I've used it about 20 times in various places. My alto has never fallen off of it. I have no experience with a Hamilton stand, so I cannot compare.

Has your alto saxophone ever fallen (rotated) out of this stand?

It hasn't rotated out of the stand but: When I got the stand I squeezed the part of the stand that cradles the bell because I thought that the fit was too loose. I think this stand is meant to fit alto and tenor horns so that may be the reason that it is a little loose for an alto.
