The image on this listing is a set of 9 square frames but the description lists multiple sizes. What size are the frmaes in the square set?

They are all the same size frames. 12x12 frames matted fit 8x8 picture. It is super easy to put on the wall with the template it comes with. I highly recommend.

What is the frame made out of? Is it metal or wood?

They are not wood! Two of ours fell (about two feet on to a rug) right after hanging and both of the “wood frames” completely shattered. The glass didn’t even break on one but the frame was destroyed. We tried to get a refund/replacement though the company but they said no.

Can the mat be removed?

Yes, the mats can be removed very easily.
