Does this work with ps3?

We just got one of these and it does not work with the PS3. The adapter cable does not work on the PS3. I solved it by using an adapter cable I had for a headset that no longer works. It can be done, but not with the adapter they put in the box with the headset.

Can I use for Xbox 360; if so, do I need other plug ins?
