I have everything tied into my AV system, AppleTV, blu-ray player, PlayStation, laserdisc player, and yes, even my desktop computer. Most everything works fine without any hiccups except one major annoyance. If I bump, breathe on, or even slightly warm my trackpad with my body heat, the CEC will switch everything over to the computer and I have to wait a full minute before switching back to what ever I was watching/playing. I can’t toggle off CEC on the computer, I can turn it off on the receiver but that means I’m back to using four different remotes. That’s where this sturdy little adapter comes in. I plug it into the HDMI out of the desktop and run the regular cord into the HDMI from it to the receiver, and bingo! No more accidental wakes from looking at the trackpad wrong or if on of the cats steps on the keyboard. It’s a simple thing but it saved me from a huge headache. I haven’t seen any detriment to audio or video. Everything comes through just as it did before but without the CEC controls. So if you have a device or two that is causing you grief with their over zealous CEC protocols, pick up some of these handy adapters. I have some extras on hand for any future problems.

I have all my devices connected to a Yamaha RX-V4A receiver. Was running into an issue with my PS5 automatically cutting on every time I turned the Chromecast on. Super annoying! This resolved the issue thankfully. Only thing that stinks about it is now when I turn the PS5 on the receiver doesn’t automatically switch inputs, which I already knew with research. But I’ll gladly take that issue over the other!

The Samsung TV "thinks" there is no video from the TiVo. This was recommended, but the TV ignored it, no matter what HDMI input was used. I had to get a HDMI 2 port switch, turn on TV, press input selector and video returns. Both tech support groups blamed each other. It took too long to troubleshoot and return window closed.

Purchased to solve recurring issue with Roku HDMI/HDPC error. Seemed to work for several weeks, it still occurs occxasionally.

So I had a issue where if my PC was plug into my TV directy or using a hdmi switch it would interfere with my soundbar that was using e-arc. This was older 4k TV. I upgraded to a new TV 4K 144hz with new soundbar old one was 6-7 years old. using a new hdmi switch that supported (144HZ) for my PC and Nintendo Switch 2 I was having that same issue again. The Bluerigger adapter did not work on my old TV was having issue with my PC the picture kept cutting in and out black screen. So I don't know if some hdmi cables are not compatible with adpter....so I tryed it with the new TV with HDMI 2.1 cables plug the adapter on the HDMI switch that I plug into the 4K HDMI port label 144hz (120hz for gaming). The my TV detected the soundbar and it was working again with no issue no cutting in and out black screen. mileage may vary... make sure to use good reputable hdmi cables.

This adapter is a life saver. My TV Box now no longer interferes with AV receiver’s audio from the TV over HDMI ARC. Earlier, I accidentally discovered that the Sony Bravia’s audio worked with Yamaha 7.2 AV receiver only with the TV Box disconnected. The TV box’s HDMI CEC feature was supposedly causing the ARC “handshake” between TV, AV receiver and TV Box to malfunction. There was no audio from AV receiver. While searching on google, I came across a blog that pointed to this CEC-less HDMI adapter. Realizing the root cause of the problem, I was certain this adapter would do the job. I ordered this a week ago and it arrived today in Dubai. I tested connections this evening and all works perfectly now. I am so happy. This adapter can connect to the TV-end or the TV box-end of the HDMI cable. It doesn’t matter. Make sure you first determine what device is causing the problem and then use this adapter to block CEC signal on that particular HDMI device and cable.

My Samsung Q870A/XY soundbar has worked with my Samsung TU8000 TV for a long time without issue. Have always used the eARC function so I can control soundbar, TV and NVIDIA Shield Pro using the Shield (or Samsung TV) controller. For some reason that eARC / CEC functionality suddenly stopped working and my Samsung TV no longer recognised by Samsung soundbar. Perhaps it was a firmware update on one of the two devices, HDMI handshake issues or a device introduced a CEC conflict? After much painful power cycling, HDMI cable testing, HDMI cable swapping, general diagnostics and forum trawling I worked out what the issue was. If only the soundbar was connected by HDMI to the TV eARC HDMI port then soundbar and TV worked. As soon as any other device was connected to HDMI 1 or HDMI 3 (the non eARC spare inputs on my TV) the soundbar would drop off and wouldn’t be ‘seen’ by the TV. That’s when I learned about my new nemesis: PIN 13 in HDMI causing issues with unwanted CEC signals. Yes, as described on some websites you could get some pliers and a magnifying glass out to prise out the offending pin on one of your cables, or you could carefully tape over pin 13 with electrical tape. Realistically though, why would you risk messing up thousands of dollars worth of equipment in lieu of testing a $14 delivered solution with free returns? Anyway, I bought 2 of these for the 2 non-eARC HDMI inputs on my TV and everything worked immediately. I now have my Switch and PS4 rigged up with the soundbar fully working on all sources with Atmos. Why Samsung and other AV companies don’t suggest testing CEC-less adapters as part of the troubleshooting process is beyond me. I don’t normally bother leaving reviews, but this problem was ‘doing my head in’ so I’m leaving as much detail as possible to help anyone else in a similar boat. I’d say if most of the above sounds familiar to you (even with different branded equipment) then this device could well be the solution you’re looking for. Good luck!

I had been having problems with a new Free sat box which was switching other HDMI connected devices on and off at random, it was driving me nuts and I was going to scrap the new Free sat box to stop the problems, then I found this and straight away it cured all the HDMI issues I was Getting. Great little adapter to stop HDMI Issues.
