This delightful book tells of the amazing success of a woman in what was then a man’s world. I recommend it highly.

I purchased this as a gift for a friend. It is a delightful look into the past of the greatest magicians of the Golden Era of Magic (late 19th - early 20th Century, Alexander Herrmann. It is his wife's hommage to him. A fascinating glimpse into their lives and the many theatrical stars, politicians and royalty that inhabited their circle.These Memoirs were written in 1932 and lost for 79 years. They serendipitously surfaced and have finally seen the light of day as Mme. Herrmann wanted.

Loved it! Fascinating look into one of the great eras of magic.

I received this book today...I am returning it tomorrow. The print is so small I would rather poke myself in the eye with a stick than try to read this book! The images are all black and white which is fine BUT the majority of them are fuzzy and out of focus! $30.00!!!! I am outraged! The cover is very colorful and pretty too bad they didn't spend some money to make the interior more reader friendly. It would be better to read it on Kindle...if available! I keep asking , What was I thinking!

This book is so much fun. Adelaide Herrmann had an incredible life with her husband, Herrmann the Great, and she invites the reader to participate in it with her. If you are interested in an adventure, you find magic intriguing or you have any interest in early Hollywood moguls, vaudeville performers or other historical figures like Brigham Young and King Alphonso of Spain, this book is a must read. Travel with Adelaide, Herrmann and their animals. Find out how many of the tricks are performed, revel in their sumptuous life and her incredible outfits. Visit cities hardly discovered in the 19th c where Adelaide and Herrmann play, entertain and are treated like and honored by royalty. You will have almost as great a time as they did.

As an amateur historian of magic this book is a MUST READ! I details one of the most intriguing accounts of one of Magic's seminal performing team.the Great Herrmann and his equally-able magician-bride, Adelaide.
