Very good sound dampening and a very good price!
Very good sound dampening ... but heavy. I recently replaced the blower motor in my car because it was making squealing noises and losing effectiveness in moving air. When I removed the housing under the dash, I noted that it had some basic noise dampening material (very thin, papery stuff that looked more like a Swiffer pad). I decided I could do better, if I could find something for the right price. Enter Amazon Basics Car Sound Deadening Mat .... I was able to use a little more than 1 mat to do this job. I overlayed the stuff that was there, and cut out the shape. I used some of the trimmed pieces, and a few strips cut off a second mat to fill in areas the original pad didn't cover. It was heavier, but not enough to really matter. If you were using this inside doors or on to cover the floor of your car ... just be aware you'll be adding some significant weight to your vehicle. With the new blower in, I expected it to be quieter, but I don't hear anything at level 1 ... while covered in cold air. At level 2, I can start to hear the air moving through the vents. It's not until level 3 that I can actually hear a little bit of the fan motor. But, since I bought the car, previously, I could always hear the motor at every level. So, this stuff works very well. It also does provide some insulation as well. So, it's a two-for-one. The sticky side is very sticky, and the reflective top side is very durable (but is easy to cut with sharp scissors). Appearance wasn't an issue as it is completely hidden, but the shiny blue side will be up if you do not have it covered with something else.

Excellent Sound Deadening, Easy Install!
Pros:Great Quality: Thick material blocks a lot of road noise.Easy Cut: Simple to trim with standard utility scissors.Super Sticky: Self-adhesive backing bonds tight to clean metal.Perfect Size: The 14.5" x 10" sheets are easy to handle.Heat Control: Noticeably reduces heat radiating through the floorboards.Review:I used this 10-pack to quiet down the cabin rattle in my older sedan. The difference is night and day. It completely eliminated the annoying hollow vibration in the doors and trunk. The sheets are thick but very flexible. They roll down smoothly onto the metal surface without any lifting. Just make sure to prep and clean the area first. It performs just as well as the more expensive name brands but at a fraction of the cost. Highly recommended for any budget car audio setup or restoration project!

Amazing quality for the price!
Go with the 14.5” x 10” (10sq ft total) sheets to get the most for your money. The big 32” (36sq ft total) sheets are nice but actually cost end up costing the same as 40sq feet of the smaller sheets. The smaller sizes are easier to get around all the rigid bumps and curves of the vehicle while bigger sheets are better for large flat surfaces. Warning!!!!! This stuff is razor sharp on the edges and you should wear gloves. I learned by not wearing them and my hands have about 20 cuts each. Tin snips work like a charm for cutting this stuff to size where you need it and make sure you get the 3 pack rigid metal rollers. There are a must and the little thin roller did wonders for tight spaces. I love how this stuff looks with the blue hue and it sticks really nice. I over layer some edges which worked fine just make sure there is no air trapped. Butting together also works great. The sound improvement in my truck cab is greatly noticed and my subwoofer bass is stronger and cleaner than ever. This stuff was super easy to use, small learning curve but you will catch on fast if you never done it. Was my first attempt ever and it turned out great! You can literally stick this stuff in any book or crack that you think wouldn’t make a rattle making this stuff incredibly versatile for any sound reducing situation!

Cost-effective solution that works!
I've used Dynamat in the past, and while there's no doubt it's the industry standard, it's become very pricy, so I was intrigued when this affordable alternative came up. I have a 2010 Ford Ranger XLT - for being as recent a model as mine is, even with the nicer XLT trim (woohoo, carpet!) this is clearly a truck that was built with "basic 90s pickup truck" standards of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). There isn't a lot of sound deadening, so the doors clatter a lot when closing, and the combination of wind, tire, and engine noise in the cabin can get tiring on longer drives. I ordered one package of the material, and approached it with the mentality not so much of covering the entire inner door, but using it strategically to diminish resonances and isolate rattles. I will probably order another pack, but I covered about 50% of both front doors and added smaller pieces in the rear cab panels of the extended cab (mine does not have rear doors, just cubbies to hide the jumper seats) to act as dampeners, and those two applications alone have made a huge difference. The doors feel much nicer and more substantial to close - not quite 1990s Mercedes-quality, obviously, but there's a nice low "thunk" where there used to be an "old pickup truck" tin can door rattle. Road and engine noise is much quieter - it's easier to hear soft passages in music or podcasts even with the stock radio. I had no issues with quality or ease of installation - the material adhered easily. No weird smells - also another important factor. Overall, I think this is an excellent product that, unlike the name-brand stuff, is priced appropriately for what it essentially is. I'm sure you can get more of a luxurious hush with the thicker stuff, but for something like the cab of an older pickup where silence isn't necessarily expected, but a little more civilized would be welcome, this is perfect.

For the price it's worth it
This stuff for the price is pretty darn good. Super easy to use simply peel and stick, I just got a new chevy express from work and since it isn't mine i'm not trying to spend tons of money so I only got one 10 pack of 14x10. I stuck them where I've been hearing the most noise and it has done a pretty good job on some noise reduction. I might buy more later to put on the glass widows before I throw up plywood to help protect them. Just make sure you use something to press it hard into place so that it won't come loose over time. Happy with it for about $20 worth it and makes my ears happy....I mean really those work vans are near deafining on the highway without any custom work!

Excellent! Buy it
Great stuff and easy to work with. I bought this to sound proof my trunk and rear deck due to adding a bigger sub. Workes great to eliminate rattles! I recommend taking your time and doing all the proper cleanup and prep work and grease removal prior to install installation. It sticks well and cuts easily with sheats or razor blades but you should use rollers to install. Bass now sounds clean ind rattles are gone! Will be buying again for other builds!

Save Money & Get These!
Before I start, make sure to buy a roller, a good quality roller, they have amazing kits that now come with different sized rollers, trust me, invest in those because I assure you, you will end up using them for something else down the line! I have been using sound deadening material for a very long time, even before it became a very big thing. I have sound proofed many cars from BMW, to my beautiful Acura Legend LS coupe that I miss so much, to my now Ford Explorer 2013 Limited. Now, I've been accustomed to using the more expensive brands, however, those are double to triple the price. Now, are these better than those? No! But it truly depends on the car you have! I won't use these on a very expensive car! Makes no sense to use these on a brand new car as well, because for something like that, you want to go all out. Now, in truth, for the price of the more expensive name brand, you can buy 2 to 3 of these, and In truth you get more than just a bang for your buck! If you have a day, some beer, maybe a BBQ, a wife or girlfriend that is out for the day, take your time and hit every spot that is metal within your car with this. I first started with the rear of my explorer, I removed the spare, the carpet and just started dropping these in, use your roller and take your time to roll it and spread it out, for these you will not need to heat it up before using the roller, but just take your time. I removed the sub woofer box, and placed some behind it ... I will give you some advice, if you ever had planned to change out the speakers, this is a perfect time to do it! I then removed the rear door panels and placed these inside of the door, and also on the outer layer of metal, most people only do the outer metal part and not deep inside, do both, you will thank me later trust me, it took me longer because I have large hands that only women can love, but not the right hands to try to get into every area that is small and tiny! If you really do have the time, take the seats out and remove the carpet and do the floor, and if you are lucky enough to not have a sun roof, remove that top and do the inner roof metal, front doors and then go to the hood, and remove the sound barrier of the hood, stick this on, put that barrier back on, and boom, you are all freaking welcome.... You will not only notice that it has help with road noise, you will see that the AC and heat will start to feel better as this will also help with retaining the cold and heat. The only problem now, and unfortunately this isn't part of the warranty, you can no longer use the road noise as an excuse to not hear your spouse any longer..... But hey, you will still thank me This installs very easy, it has the perfect thickness to keep enough sound out.... it will be an all day thing, but when that bass hits harder, forget about it....

Great stuff! Buy it, it will change your tunes sound!
I’m impressed with this stuff, first time using it but it definitely helped change the sound in my car, helped with the vibrations and noises, and brings out more sound from speakers and helps deliver that sound. I didn’t use for full door sound, but I used maybe 3 sheets each front door and 1.5 sheets each on my back doors, I still have some left over. Be careful the aluminum is sharp and so is the door sheet metal can be sharp. I didn’t use gloves but be careful. If it’s your first time using product that’s ok, take your time it’s like a puzzle could be therapeutic, I got better at using this stuff each time I used it. I used 1 pack on a Chevy Cruze doors cut to fit not entire door and each door is different, there are some factory strips inside the front doors but I didn’t overlap. I still have a couple sheets left over.

Pretty good.
Works well, good value. I didn’t notice a huge difference, but the metal definitely feels more solid.

Great quality for money - especially for camper van builds!
I recently installed the Amazon Basics Car Sound Deadener in my 2006 Chevy Express 2500 as part of my camper van build, and it’s been a game-changer for improving cabin comfort. Here’s my honest take on this product: Installation Experience Applying it was fairly straightforward. The material is flexible enough to work around the curves and contours of a van, which is especially useful in an older model like mine. I’d recommend taking the time to prep the surface well—cleaning with alcohol before applying made a big difference in adhesion. Using a roller (highly recommend!) to press it down in tight spots really helped, particularly around the wheel wells, where it tends to reduce a lot of road noise. Performance for Van Life The biggest win here is the reduction in noise, especially helpful when you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep in the back. After installation, the overall cabin noise is noticeably lower, especially highway sounds and vibrations, which is great when you’re using the van for long drives or trying to work while parked. While it won’t make your van completely silent, it cuts down significantly on rattles and outside noise, which I appreciated for both driving and when it’s parked up for the night. Budget-Friendly Solution For anyone doing a camper van conversion on a budget, this is an affordable sound-dampening solution. Sure, high-end products might offer a bit more insulation and noise reduction, but for the price, this Amazon Basics deadener does a solid job. It’s great if you’re doing an entire van and don’t want to spend a fortune just on soundproofing. Potential Drawbacks One thing to note: this material isn’t quite as thick as the top-of-the-line deadeners, so it may take a couple of layers if you want maximum quiet. Also, I noticed a mild smell when first applied, but it faded after airing out the van for a few days. The adhesive is decent but not as heavy-duty as premium brands, so double-check it after a week or so, especially in areas with more vibration. Final Thoughts Overall, the Amazon Basics Car Sound Deadener is an awesome find for anyone outfitting a van or truck on a budget. It’s easy to install, provides solid noise reduction, and makes my Chevy Express way more comfortable for road trips and camping. If you’re looking for an affordable way to dampen noise without cutting into your camper build budget, this sound deadener is a great choice. Just be prepared to use a bit more material in high-traffic areas or consider double layering for the best results.

Quieting the Road: Amazon Basics Car Sound Deadener Review
After installing the Amazon Basics Car Sound Deadener in my vehicle, I am impressed enough to give this product a solid 5-star rating for its effectiveness and ease of use. The first thing to note about these sound deadening sheets is their size. Measuring 36.83 x 25.4 cm each, they are conveniently sized for various applications within the car, such as the doors, floor, or trunk. This versatility is a significant advantage, as it allows for targeted sound deadening where it's needed most. Installation of the sheets was straightforward. They come with a self-adhesive backing, which made applying them to the car surfaces a simple task. The adhesive is strong and ensures a secure hold, which is crucial for a product that needs to withstand the vibrations and temperature variations of a vehicle. The effectiveness of the sound deadening was immediately noticeable. Road noise, particularly the hum that comes from the tires and wind, was significantly reduced. This created a much quieter and more pleasant driving experience, allowing for clearer audio from the stereo and easier conversations with passengers. The material of the sound deadener is dense and appears to be of high quality. It's thick enough to be effective, yet pliable enough to conform to the various contours of the car's interior. This balance is essential for both sound dampening properties and ease of installation. The pack of 10 sheets in a single pack offers good value. It provides enough material to make a noticeable difference in a standard-sized vehicle without the need for multiple purchases. In conclusion, the Amazon Basics Car Sound Deadener is an excellent choice for anyone looking to reduce noise in their vehicle. Its combination of effective sound dampening, ease of installation, and good value makes it a product well worth considering for a more enjoyable driving experience.
