Great for color pencils too, significantly quieter than most sharpeners
Excellent product so far. Able to sharpen 30 pencils in under 2 minutes! Clean finish so no tearing of wood. Works great on color pencils as well.

Business Quality Pencil Sharpener
This has to be the best pencil sharpener that I have ever purchased! It is lightweight, sharpens various-sized pencils with an automatic stop sound so you know the point is professionally sharpened. It does not oversharpen them. It is a bit large but I don't mind at all. It does plug in with a good length on the cord.

Awesome sharpener. Highly recommend
Quiet and works with most pencils. Sharpens fast and easy to clean shavings. Rubber feet keep it in place. Use it in my classroom and love it.

The Mother Ship of Pencil Sharpeners! - update: Final review
Before I buy anything, I do a lot of research on it. A lot. So this Stanley sharpener came to my attention. I needed for my 7th grade classroom and if I were ever going to invent something and check it for durability, I'd put it in a 7th grade classroom for about a month. If it can last that long, you can bet it'll last just about forever. I've had several manual sharpeners in my classroom, you know, the type you screw to the wall. They don't hold up. One was torn from its stem, the base still screwed to the wall. Another had its handle bent so much that when you went to sharpen a pencil, you'd have to crank it in an oval instead of a circle. I didn't really want to spend too much for a sharpener, since my classes have a "reputation" for how they treat prior sharpeners. But the Stanley LOOKED heavy-duty enough. And Stanley tools are pretty rugged, right? Besides, the only other choice that seemed like it might hold up was an Xacto one, but that was over $100! I am a school teacher, after all. So I bought this Stanley Bostich EPS12HC SuperPro 6. What sold me was that it could could take all pencil sizes and it boasted of a motor so rugged, that it actually had a FAN to cool it down! It had suction cups for feet to keep young 7th grade bodies that throw their weight against their pencils from pushing it off the table. It looked as if it could sharpen colored pencils too, something that always jammed other electric sharpeners. The only drawback I could see was it didn't really have an auto-stop feature, you had to "feel" it as being sharpened as you were sharpening your writing instrument. Oh well. Let's take a risk. This machine is the new Class Pet. It does everything it promises and more. The kids LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. It's fast and the blades are sharp. Why, because the container is see-through, the kids actually empty it when it gets full of pencil shavings too. They've gotten over grinding pencils down to stubbs. The only drawback is that it sometimes sharpens a pencil's wood along with the graphite, so that you either have to peel it away with a fingernail, or put it back in and twist the pencil. No big deal either way. I would DEFINITELY recommend this machine for you. It doesn't matter if you're not a teacher - I'd get one for my home even. Worth every red cent! UPDATE - 1 year later. OK, so as I mentioned above, if you ever want to check the durability of nearly anything, put it in a 7th grade classroom for a year. Here's the result of having the Stanley Bostich EPS12HC used by seventh graders for 9 months. At first, it was a wonderful machine: it sharpened pencils to a pin-point, it could handle colored pencils (something that would cause other sharpeners to bog down). But then Monica jammed her stub of a pencil into the sharpener and it got stuck. I had to use a paperclip to slide what was left of her pencil out from between the sharpening gears, after taking out the shavings bin and getting to the gears from underneath. But it was never quite the same after that. Maybe the blades grew dull; I don't know. What happens now though, is that when it sharpens pencils, it sharpens the WOOD around the point, bringing the lead AND the wood together to a sharpened spear. If you don't have fingernails to chip away the wood to get to the lead, forget using the pencil. Also, it seems to have given up trying to get colored pencils sharp. I'm not sure why this fine-looking machine is going the way of all pencil sharpeners in my classroom. I'll see if maybe its the blades that need replacing (after only ONE YEAR?!), but that seems unlikely. Stay tuned! Well, this is, I'm sorry to write, the final review on this pencil sharpener. It's given up the ghost and I've given up on it. So much so that I actually went out and bought a similar version made by X-acto. And I did not buy it from Amazon for the simple reason that, for less than $10, I could buy a one year, if-it-breaks-bring-it-in-and-get-a-new-one warranty. How can a 7th grade teacher beat that?! So, sorry, Stanley Bostich EPS12HC SuperPro 6, our relationship is now over....

Unstoppable hunger to sharpen pencils!!
I will admit I was a little put off by the size of this product. The picture makes it look much smaller than it really is. However, let me start by saying that we used to be one of those families with the little hand held sharpener, or maybe we would from time to time find ourselves with a battery powered one. Our children (8 and 5) have just come into both being prolific artists and schedulers. Now that we've moved passed crayons we find lists and stories, sketches and doodles all in their new favorite pencil. With the shear volume of content these two kids have started to create we could not keep up with small sharpeners. Pencils would be dull, broken or nubs. The kids would sharpen them until they were either 1 inch long or their fingers hurt. We'd often see just one side of the pencil sharp while the other remained protected by wood. And the shavings... Don't allow me to start on the fact that though our two children understand the concept of sharpening your pencil over the trash can, they can never truly accomplish the dream. We would find shavings all over our floor, and when we had sharpeners with shaving tanks, they would inevitably come loose or come off when dropped, spilling shavings around our kitchen. At one point I was forced to just sharpen pencils with my razor cutter to just get a good point... NO MORE!! The Stanley Bostitch QuietSharp6 is a miracle worker. It sharpens pencils to a Katniss Everdeen razor arrow head tip every time! The shavings tank is HUGE and slides out, so as not to be dropped. The unit has suction cups on its base to keep it from moving while the kids press their pencils into it and you would think that the sound of all this grinding would be like the floor of some early 19th century industrialists mill factory, but instead it is quiet and quick. Before you are even remotely upset with the sound of its high power motor, it's done! The best part, is that it doesn't over sharpen, so the kids can not nub pencils in seconds like they used to. I would highly recommend this unit if you have a child (or more) that produces lists, sketches, stories and doodles at a rate that would make the NY Times jealous.. Once you have this unit you'll never understand how or why you did things the "other way".. I love this unit and FYI, it does colored pencils just as easily! Give someone in your life the power of use pencils again by sharpening pencils quickly and easily and not spending their time whittling like a wood carver, or twisting like they have a 33 inch screw that needs to go into a 40 inch piece of wood by hand..

Good Buy
Good price. Works well, sharpens quickly, fitting a variety of different sizes of pencils. Perfect for the classroom. Not bulky or noisy. Slick design, not jamming and easy to use plus empty and clean.

Excellent sharpener but is 110volt ONLY. Had to purchase a 110/240 v transformer before being able to use making it an expensive sharpener! Therefore not recommended for use in Australia.

Produit de bonne facture, robuste et efficace mais le descriptif n'indique pas qu'il s'agit d'une fiche électrique de type USA et qu'il faut l'alimenter sous une tension de 120V (en Europe la tension électrique du secteur est de 230V)

This is a great unit. I love that you can sharpen many sizes of pencils. It is very easy to use. Plug it in and the sturdy unit sharpens with little pressure needed to be applied, quickly and to a great point. It is nowhere close to as loud as others I have had, and it is a hard-working unit that is great value for money. I predominantly use it for pencil crayons and am going to get another one for my office!

I just purchased this product a month now, so far it is easy to use. I am very careful with this pencil sharpener as it is very powerful. I gently and carefully sharpened graphite pencils 2B,4B also polychromos colouring pencils and prismacolor premier pencils. The softer lead derwent coloursoft is not recommended for this pencil sharpener or other soft lead artist pencils, but does work well with the firmer and hard colouring pencils. I will update my review of this product later after more use of it. I hope this helps if anyone trying to decide on a electric pencil sharpener.
