Harperfire Slouch Witch

My first Helen Harper book. Pretty much agree with other reviews. Entertaining lead character. Ending a bit abrupt and leaving one wondering what next, which is perhaps intentional. Fewer editorial bloomers than in some professionally published books that I've read.

I would have given this book 5 stars based on the hysterical last paragraphs alone. Fortunately, the rest of this fun novel was equally 5-star worthy. The characters are full of foibles and delightfully dysfunctional. I sped read through the book, dying to see what new trouble the main character, Ivy, would get herself into—and waiting for the romance to come to a head between her and Winter. If you’re curious, read the book’s blurb. It accurately says what the story is about. Like other reviewers have said, Ivy’s cat is one of the best part of the story—maybe all the cats are.My one complaint and warning would be that I purchased a paperback copy and the formatting was horrible—random extra spaces between words, odd indentations. Luckily the quality of the story made it easy to overlook the poor quality of the formatting.

Ivy is my hero! I started reading this book over my lunch hour while sitting in a shopping mall and kept laughing out loud at what Brutus was saying to Ivy! Oh my goodness what a good book! I read it in 2 days and that is because I made myself slow down and savor the characters! I've read Star Witch and Spirit Witch as well and they are both terrific and lots of fun too! I just went and ordered 4 more of Helen Harper's books. And, yes, I said books because I love to have a real book in my hands!

Slouch Witch is a recommendation from Ilona Andrews readers. It's a light, fun, fast read. I laughed out loud over the antics of her cat and familiar Brutus. Perfect for the snowy day we will have tonight and tomorrow. I can't wait to start Book 2, Star Witch.
