It’s not actually pasta.. so don’t expect it to be haha
I don’t know why so many of the reviews here expect a pasta replacement with basically ZERO carbs to taste and feel exactly like actual pasta.. SO.. 1) yes the initial smell is a little fishy. I assume most people here read reviews before purchasing and know about the smell.. so my advice.. don’t get all curious, stick your nose in it and take a big whiff.. just dump it into a strainer and rinse it off really well. But honestly, I have never had that initial light fishy smell before it’s cooked effect the flavor of the dish. 2) the texture is a bit rubbery and the flavor is bland. I recommend cooking them a bit longer (I’ve done as long as 30 mins) to absorb more flavor. The texture isn’t going to change much, but the good thing about this texture is that it doesn’t really break down and get soggy like regular pasta and leftovers store like a dream. Personally I really don’t mind the texture. I was never a fan of how mushy pasta gets anyway. 3) I’m not diabetic, or on any keto diet.. I just genuinely wanted a replacement for higher carb pasta dishes. This stuff takes the cake in my opinion. As long as you are open minded and understand that it isn’t going to be exactly like those $.25 packages of ramen you’re used to, I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed! TRY IT!

UPDATED: It's like eating rubber bands!
UPDATED: I now know why it was so bad. It looks like some of the product wasn't completely processed. The bag I initially opened (first photo) looked and tasted like rubber bands. The second bag (second photo) was exactly like I hoped for, it tasted and felt like regular Konnyaku noodles. It was very good! The third photo is the manufacturer codes so they know which batch was affected. It seemed like someone in the processing plant forgot to "cook" half of them and just bagged the raw product. 3 bags in my order were like this, so ½ of my order was inedible. It's still a horrible deal since the manufacturer won't let me return the inedible product to get a replacement, so I am keeping my 1 star review. If they reach out to me to give me a replacement, I will change my review. +++++ I had such high hopes for this product. I have tried other brands and liked them but this, by far is the worst out of them all. I followed the directions on the package, rinsed them and boiled them for the recommended 5 minutes. Then I tried the noodles... it's like chewing a rubber bands... I couldn't even break it down by chewing them. THEY GOT STUCK IN MY TEETH! I thought maybe boiling it longer would help. NOPE! This time it was harder to chew, if that is even possible. What really stinks is I cannot return it so I wasted the $28 on garbage! Do yourself a favor and don't buy this product!

Really good with anything but tomato sauce
I guess if you use these noodles and you sauté them they do you have a great substitution for pasta. But if you just microwave it and put spaghetti sauce on it, taste like rubber I really and truly wish they would make a better product.

Amazing! The oat fiber makes all the difference!
I wish I could use neon to draw attention to this delicious pasta. After trying several brands of shirataki noodles sold at the natural food markets in my area—some with tofu and some without—as well as the Miracle brand from Amazon and from ShopRite (you can find it in the natural/organic foods aisle), I stumbled on the Better Than version at an oriental market. I’ve since tried all three kinds I could find—the Noodles (the thickness of angel hair), the Pasta (like spaghetti), and the Rice—and I can’t get enough of them. They’re so much more like real pasta than the other brands! Not gelatinous, translucent, sticky, or rubbery, they come out of the inner bag golden and dense, thanks to the brilliant addition of oat fiber, which also means you’re getting 4 grams of dietary fiber per serving. The product is packaged in very little water, and the fishy aroma some find objectionable is much less noticeable. Just dry fry it, then prepare it as you would normal pasta. My only reservation is that it’s a product of China; I’m not sure I would have tried it if it wasn’t certified USDA organic. So glad I did! Three servings in a package? Bah! Dinner for one is more like it. At 15 calories a serving, who’s counting? If you’re like me—with an almost lifelong avoidance of carbs but a deep love of pasta—you have to try Better Than. It knocks all the other shirataki noodles out of the park. I'm stocking up and buying more to give to friends.

No More Smell
The rice version of these do not have a smell any longer. They come in a large size as well which is great compared to many of the other brands that only come in smaller portions. The taste is extremely neutral, they literally taste like water. The texture is good, not rubbery and easy to chew. These are a great way to add quantity to a meal to fill you up without adding calories. They are extremely versatile as well in regard to how you can incorporate them into your diet. I basically add a bag to whatever I am eating for dinner and fills me up without adding unneeded calories. Plus the fiber is a bonus added benefit. Overall a great item at a good price.

Uhhh.
I'm not sure what others are saying about a fishy smell, mine smelled like cooked spaghetti. That aside, I don't like the texture, which is nothing like cooked spaghetti at all and no matter how I doctor it up, it's bland as hell. I will not be buying this again and will give what I have left to my friend.

Konjac pasta, shiratake noodles...po-tay-toe .....poTAH- toe.....but if new to them read below
These are my favorite konjac/shiratake noodles to date and I've tried a lot of them! If you never had them before be prepared for a fishy smell when you cut open the package, this is normal and will disappear after rinsing in hot water in a colander for several minutes and putting them in a frying pan to dry cook the remaining water out...THEN add your sauce and fixings and BAM! your KETO FRIENDLY/ DIET FRIENDLY fake pasta meal is ready. ;-) However..................... DO NOT EAT A WHOLE PACKAGE IF YOU NEVER HAD THEM BEFORE!! Some people's digestive system can't handle large portions of konjac at one sitting so small serving 1st day!! Really, not kidding, baby steps.....you will be glad you did as the cramps can be terrible!

The worst fake food product EVER!
I ordered this product with high hopes since I just started a Ketogenic Diet. I cooked up some turkey meat with onion and garlic, then added marinara sauce. I rinsed the Better than Pasta noodles thoroughly and added them to the sauce. My husband and I were excited about the new low carb noodles. Upon first bite, the noodles were sort of chewy and the mouth texture was rubbery. We ate them and soon after my belly started swelling up 2 inches and felt hard like a rock. I was so uncomfortable for hours. I drank some Calm Magnesium to try and calm my stomach down. I slept very restless all night and didn't feel better until the afternoon. I brought the other 5-packs to the office and put them in the kitchen with a note, FREE! I should have returned them but didn't want to hassle with the return process. The label said, Made in China, and all sorts of thoughts regarding "manufacturing" of this strange substance went through my mind. We threw the rest of our dinner out! I will never buy this product again.
