The series may be named after a (fictional) Northern California motorcycle club, but with the release of this four-disc set of 13 episodes and bonus material, it's clearer than ever that Sons of Anarchy is about a lot more than hoods 'n' Harleys. SAMCRO (the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original chapter), as they're known, is an extended family of folks who care about one another, look out for one another, fight for one another… Heck, they're just like us--at least until the guns come out, drugs are dealt, murders are committed, a baby is kidnapped, and other squirrelly stuff happens. This time around, they're plagued by two big problems. As the first episode opens, Abel, the infant son of MC member Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam, a fine actor and Brad Pitt look-alike) and his baby mama, Dr. Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff), has been abducted, most likely by some rogue members of the Irish Republican Army (the efforts of Jax and his "brothers" to find Abel, which include a trip to Dublin, is a thread that unravels throughout the season); what's more, they have another baby on the way. Meanwhile, Jax's mother, Gemma (Katey Sagal, excellent once again), wife of club leader Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), has been framed for a murder she didn't commit, which more than complicates her efforts to look after her father, who's slipping into Alzheimer's following the death of his wife. It's a tribute to Sons creator Kurt Sutter (who also portrays the character Otto in several episodes) and his team that they're able to make us care about a bunch of folks most of us would normally cross the street to avoid. The cast, which includes some fine actors from the United Kingdom (including Hunnam), several veterans from popular shows like Deadwood and Game of Thrones , and guest stars like Hal Holbrook (as Gemma's dad), Drea de Matteo, and even Sonny Barger (a real-life Hell's Angel), is substantial, and the storylines are legion (like many ongoing series, this one may require newcomers to do some quick catching up before getting a handle on what's going on). There's plenty of violence (though it's fairly tame compared to the show's cable counterparts), the music is outstanding (you're not likely to find a song by the great English guitarist-singer-songwriter Richard Thompson featured on any other shows), and the writing, acting, and production values are top-notch all around. Sons of Anarchy has a consistent vibe and attitude that make for very compelling viewing--and with the special features including four scenes from season four, it's clear that there's much more to come. Other bonus material includes commentary for three episodes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and more. --Sam Graham The sins of the father come crashing down on the son in the stunning, suspense-filled Season Three of Sons of Anarchy! Chaos and confusion reign after Jax’s infant son has been kidnapped and Gemma (Golden Globe winner Katey Sagal) has been framed for murder. When Abel’s trail leads SAMCRO to Belfast, Ireland, secrets are revealed and the bonds of brotherhood are shattered. Jax is left reeling with more questions than answers as he struggles with the legacy of his father, the future of the club, and the fate of his family. Review: Irish Motorcycle Gangs? - I admit it. I'm hooked on Sons Of Anarchy. Owning and riding a Harley probably has a lot to do with it. However the cast is the main reason I like it and the story of course. This season deals with the club going to Ireland. I wont' spoil it by getting into detail. I was a bit tickled by the way the Harley's looked in Ireland. The Samcro guys had to wear actual helmets instead of the beanies you see lots of folks riding with in the States. I guess the Irish take more interest in head injuries than Americans do. The story has it's usual amounts of surprises in it which makes it irresistable to me. June Stahl the underhanded, ATF agent gets what's coming to her towards the end in a sort of surprise at least to me. Opie and Jacks are teamed up again as in previous episodes, Kickin ass and takin names. This season three of the Sons, is great, bet your life on it. It's way different in most aspects but great none-the-less. Ireland has some terrific scenery to see and some new people to meet, some good and beautiful, some no damn good. The club gets a readjustment in their ideas about the Irish. Some good and lots bad. If you believe in Karma then you'll love this season, it's full of it. I've found most people either love or have no opinion of Sons. Usually the ones that have no opinion are the people I don't know. Most of my friends love it. Maybe that's because lots of us ride Harleys? Nah, it just a damn good show, period, believe it. You won't be disappointed with this season either. I'm looking forward to owning season 4! Buy Season 3 you won't regret it! Dave Proffitt Review: Best MC (Motorcycle Club) portrayal TV series ever! - We've seen every episode on tv of course, but now I've Ordered this as a Christmas present from my husband (and maybe it was a little for myself as well hehe), I could not find a cheaper price for this season anywhere else. I have also purchased all the other seasons from desertcart as well. My husband and I belong to a MC (Motorcycle Club) (although ours is not a 1% criminal activity club as this series protrays) Still, This is the BEST MC portrayal Televisions series I've seen!, This series is sooo spot on accurate to what MC brotherhoods and their love, loyalty and dedication to one another are all about. If you have not watched this series it is a MUST...the actors are very realistic, except for when one of the lead characters british accent slips out every now and than, and my husband and I like to try to spot it when it happens lol. The story line is fancinating, and each episode will definitely make you hurry to get to the next. So, If you enjoy the MC, and in my opinion a Hamelot like storyline, The Sons Of Anarchy will NOT disappoint you. However to state the obvious, if you do not enjoy the biker scene, this is probably not going to be for you, yet it could also change your idea of whatever Biker sterotypes there are out there. Just remember not all MC's are bad, there is a reason 1% clubs are called 1% ;)

Hooked from Season One
I got into this show late, so I was able to watch Seasons 1, 2, 3 in a marathon style viewing. On one hand I'm glad that I got to overdose on so many episodes at once. On the other hand, I can't believe I missed out on this amazing show for as long as I did. Since anyone can find many critics reviews, fan sites, and twitter accounts related to this show, I will try to keep my review short and sweet: I made my cousin, my housemate, and my bestie watch this entire series - all at separate times. Thus I have watched the entire series approximately 4 times (as I watched with each of them and once on my own). I have found new layers to the story with every viewing. Each one of them thanked me for introducing them to this show & each one sends me ridiculous amounts of text messages on Tuesday nights when the show is playing live - of course we only reply during commercials because it is impossible to tear your eyes away from the screen when the show is airing. Overall - this is the first TV show that I actually bought all of the DVD set for each season. This would be the first entertainment item that would accompany me to a deserted island. Although I buy the Amazon Season Pass now with my Roku box, I will still buy the DVDs upon their release just for the extras on the discs. Yes, this show is worth paying for it twice!

Fantastic show, but this review is about how great Amazon is!
This review is not just about SOA, my favorite show on tv, but also about Amazon's customer service. I actually purchased this some years ago with Season 3 had first come out on blu-ray. I had somehow missed the season on TV (life gets in the way sometimes), and I was about to go on a long plane ride. I bought this then, expecting I could just download it on to my ipad and watch on the plane. Well, a few years ago, Amazon didn't have the proper software to support downloading onto an ipad, you had to instant stream purchases via the internet. This completely defeated the purpose of what I needed. Here's why I am rating Amazon. As soon as I called customer service about this, I acknowledged my mistake in not reading the fine print, but they promptly refunded my money and took the purchase off my account. No trouble, no hoops. Just like that. Of course, now they do support the ability to download tv shows onto your ipad for later viewing without internet access. I love this show, as I said, it is my favorite show on tv. I am not going to try to convice people to watch this show, I am sure there are plenty of other reviewers that wax poetic on the subject far better than I could. However, I did want to give Amazon some props!

I so envy you all
From an Australian fan, I have to say I am so impressed with the series. I have ordered season 3 and can not wait for it to arrive. I do envy each and every one of you who have been able to watch season 3 already. It is on what us Aussies call " pay tv" so therefore we are not going to be able to view the beginning of season 3 for some time. I was also disappointed that i could not view online due to living in Australia. But from your reviews from all of you, I will not be disappointed when i actually do get to view the season. I have to say I have never been so wrapped up in a series before like this. I agree with others when they review and say the producers have kept a real feel to the show and also the story line does not drag on. So wish i could get a sneak peek at series 3 but i guess i have to wait .............. not one of my strongest abilities but such is life so they say.

Satisfaction
The third season of "Sons of Anarchy" can only be described as satisfying. After watching the addictive series from the first, I loved the entire Shakespeare in leather premise, admired the single-minded tough guys and their sexy, adoring women, all centered upon the Teller Morrow clan. I was most interested in the Jemma character, played to perfection by Katey Sagel. While sharing her family views and exacting jealousy for her 'viejo', her anger was always too white-hot for me. Season Three laid it all out for me. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched but I'll suffice to say the Sons get theirs. You will discover why Jemma has such an aversion to God and religion. You will understand her utter contempt for her first husband, John Teller, Jax's father. You will enjoy the quick trip to the gritty side of Ireland and hang your head at the greasy grace of Catholicism. You will see Agent Stahl over-play her hand and Jax snicker as the Sons meticulously tie up loose ends. I have concerns about the violence on women (see Season Two; gangsters' ladies should be well-protected) but I look forward to Season Four. Will Tara confront Jemma or fall in line as a good daughter? Will Tig make peace with the blond biker from Tacoma who mysteriously favors Katey Sagal? How will Clay run his business while in stir? Will Lila the porn-child marry Opie? Will Tara and Jax ever be a true family? September the 6th can't come soon enough!

What a ride
Had to watch them all. I really liked the series. If I had watched it when it was first on air I would have named my little dog “ Jax “

Brutal, But Fantastic
SoA is a great show if you like gangland violence and Sopranos-type series, although there is a big feminine side to it as well. Season 3 is more of the same high quality, often very brutal, look at the lives of the relatively benign SoA and their relationship with their rival gangs, the local PD and the ATF. You can't help but see the cops as the bad guys here, with the exception of poor old Chief Unser. This series has a few episodes in Northern Ireland, where to be honest it seemed too fake most of the time. Some external scenes were definitely filmed there, but the extremely bright outdoor scenes with non-indigenous trees and obvious tv backlot and studio sets were a bit of a laugh. Also, I can't believe that people in Belfast live as if they've timewarped back to the early seventies with ancient CRT tvs, cookers and decor. Note to producers - we do have flat screen tvs, fancy kitchens and paint other than brown here too, you know. That aside, the series has some really gripping and shocking moments, often involving Gemma, who's had a really meaty role as a tough-as-nails and unpredictable woman of a certain age since the show started. The final episode was absolutely fantastic tv, with a lot of shocks and surprises and has left us gagging for season 4.
