Can you override the timer and keep the setting? I have it attached to a lamp and want to be able to use it when timer isn’t functioning?

Yes you can, but it's not an easy button. While in "Clock Mode" where just the time is displayed, you HOLD the ENTER button down then TAP the TIMING SETTINGS button to turn power on. Turn off by tapping the SWITCH/OFF button.
