Buy well in advance if it's for a gift!
The pencils work nicely and are very smooth. However, the packaging was not good. While the pencils were undamaged, the metal case was dented and would have been unacceptable for a gift. Since it's for me, I kept it, but it needed more than a flimsy shipping envelope!

Best pastel pencils
I’m an artist and appreciate the quality of these pastel pencils. Easy to sharpen, blends really well, and stays on the pastel paper without too much mess. There’s a good variety of colors and it comes in a nice metal tin.

So worth the $
I am a mixed media artist & definitely Not a Fine art artist. These pencils exceed my needs. They are beautiful & easy to use. Colors are clear & true. I can sharpen them with a pencil sharpener (I use good quality, sharp sharpeners, not crappy ones) I was concerned about that because a lot of pastel pencils have to be sharpened with a blade & quite frankly I’m not up for that so I was thrilled to find pencils that worked so well & can sharpen easily.

Very good pencil set for painting portraits
Love this pastel pencils. Works great on Pastelmat, you'll be amazed with the results. More creamy texture for blending, blends smoothly without creating any hard edges. Good pencil set for beginners and for professionals. Also with this colors you can any type of skin tone. Lot of skin colors also included for painting portraits.

Really an adapted colored pencil with some pastel features. High priced!!
I am spoiled by prismacolor pastel pencils. This brand is probably in the C-so-so range. The pigment is on the low side. It is mildly creamy and blends pretty well. I felt it was more like a colored pencil when using it! That would make it better for sharpening. I chose these for the background a particular mixed media piece of art. I cannot see these pencils being a strong contender for a whole artwork. The colors did work for me. I think $33 is a bit high for this brand and the pencils' capabilites. Probably good for a small artwork. Maybe this is a tariff issue driving the price up. I would not buy these again!
